Job description

Overview

Coordinates the technician non-sterile compounding workflow, assists in developing and implementing process changes. Assist operations specialists in ensuring compliance with all regulatory directives including USP -NF 795 and 800 under the supervision of a pharmacist. Provides user training on the machines and troubleshoots issues as needed.

Responsibilities
  • 1. Non-sterile Compounding Responsibilities
    • 1.1 Design internal systems/procedures to ensure an efficient and cost-effective workflow.
  • 2. Staff education and training
    • 2.1 Maintains and updates non-sterile compounding technician job responsibility in collaboration with leadership
  • 3. Coaches Pharmacy Technician Staff involved in non-sterile medication compounding to ensure compliance per departmental policies and procedures.
    • 3.1 Provides timely feedback to direct manager as needed
  • 4. Participates in departmental projects as assigned
    • 4.1 Participates in projects as assigned and ensures project progress/completion in a timely fashion as observed by supervisors and documented by project progress/completion

Qualifications

EDUCATION

High school diploma or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 3 years prior hospital pharmacy technician experience required. Previous non -sterile compounding experience required

LICENSURE

Current registration/licensure or eligible for registration (obtained prior to start date) as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of employment, as outlined by the respective State regulatory agencies. Active Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification, or equivalent, is required on, or within 12 months of, date of hire.

SPECIAL SKILLS

18 years of age or older. Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills, and a strong knowledge of USP 795 and related workflows.

PHYSICAL DEMAND

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Incumbents as well as external and internal applicants who become disabled must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without the assistance of reasonable accommodation as determined on a case by case basis
