Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced, hospitality-driven Server to join our team. This role is responsible for creating exceptional dining experiences through attentive, knowledgeable, and personalized service. Our Servers are ambassadors of the restaurant, confidently guiding guests through our food and beverage offerings while delivering warm, genuine hospitality.
The ideal candidate is passionate about food, wine, and service, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys building authentic connections with guests. As part of the Populus team, you'll also support our commitment to sustainability and thoughtful hospitality.
What You'll Do
Guest Experience
  • Welcome every guest with warmth and professionalism, creating an inviting dining experience from arrival through departure.
  • Provide knowledgeable recommendations on food, beverages, wine, and cocktails, tailoring suggestions to guest preferences.
  • Accurately take and enter food and beverage orders using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
  • Deliver food and beverages promptly while ensuring quality, presentation, and accuracy.
  • Anticipate guest needs, monitor tables throughout service, and respond to requests with urgency and care.
  • Resolve guest concerns professionally, escalating issues when appropriate to ensure guest satisfaction.

Service Excellence
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of menu items, ingredients, preparation methods, allergens, daily specials, and beverage offerings.
  • Follow established service standards and sequence of service to deliver a consistent guest experience.
  • Ensure tables, dining areas, and service stations remain clean, organized, and fully stocked.
  • Complete opening, side work, and closing duties to support efficient restaurant operations.
  • Maintain a polished, professional appearance and represent the restaurant with pride.

Teamwork
  • Collaborate closely with bartenders, hosts, culinary, and support teams to ensure seamless service.
  • Assist fellow team members during busy periods and contribute to a positive, team-oriented culture.
  • Participate in ongoing training and continually expand food, beverage, and service knowledge.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Previous serving experience in an upscale restaurant, hotel, or fine dining environment preferred.
  • Strong food, wine, cocktail, and beverage knowledge, or a desire to continually learn.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and guest service skills.
  • Experience using POS systems and handling guest payments accurately.
  • Ability to multitask and remain composed in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional demeanor with a positive, hospitality-focused attitude.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Alcohol service certification (or ability to obtain upon hire) preferred.

Physical Requirements
  • Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Frequently carry trays, plates, and beverages weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Bend, reach, lift, and perform repetitive motions throughout service.
  • Work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
