Job description

Plant Engineer

Location: On-site - Portsmouth, NH.

The Plant Engineer supports ongoing Lonza operations by providing technical assistance as it relates to manufacturing and process systems. The role acts as a technical resource to operations customers to ensure that equipment and facilities are designed, operated, and maintained to meet production needs. Responsibilities of the role include implementation of engineering projects to support manufacturing requirements.

What you will do:

  • Manufacturing Support - Develop expertise in manufacturing equipment and processes; troubleshoot major breakdowns and quality issues; provide SME support for equipment design and operation.

  • Technical Analysis - Perform troubleshooting and analyses such as PI data review, CIP/SIP circuit checks, MOC and flow path evaluations.

  • Process Integration - Assist with tech transfer of new processes, update preventive maintenance plans, and manage spare parts inventory.

  • Project Execution - Support planning and implementation of equipment changes and process improvements; execute commissioning protocols and manage change requests.

  • Quality & Compliance - Participate in deviation investigations, root cause analyses (RCAs), and complete CAPA actions to ensure compliance.

  • Documentation - Review and update SOPs, work instructions, batch records, and engineering documents; author commissioning protocols.

  • Training & Systems - Maintain compliance with all training requirements (SAP Learning Portal, ComplianceWire, iComply, QSMRT) and ensure no overdue tasks.

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Discipline is required.

  • Preferred area of study: Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.

  • Entry level position to 4 years of experience.

  • Practical experience in the application of engineering principles to plant systems; Biopharmaceutical/process experience preferred but not required at this level.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite with focus on Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
