Position Overview

We are seeking a reliable, skilled, and patient-focused Registered Dental Assistant (RDA)/ Extended Function (RDAEF) to join our clinical team. The ideal candidate is licensed, detail-oriented, and committed to providing high-quality patient care while supporting the dentist during a wide range of procedures.

This role plays a key part in maintaining efficient clinical flow, ensuring patient comfort, and upholding the highest standards of infection control.

Essential Job Functions

Clinical & Patient Care Duties

  • Prepare treatment rooms by following prescribed procedures and clinical protocols.

  • Welcome, seat, comfort, and drape patients for dental treatment.

  • Record accurate medical and dental histories and vital signs.

  • Assist the dentist during examinations and treatment procedures.

  • Provide instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments; positioning instruments for access; suctioning; and passing instruments.

  • Prepare dental materials by selecting, mixing, and placing materials on instruments and in the patient’s mouth as directed.

  • Expose and process diagnostic-quality dental radiographs.

  • Pour, trim, and polish study casts.

  • Fabricate temporary restorations and clean and polish removable appliances within RDA scope.

  • Educate patients on oral hygiene, plaque control, and post-operative care as prescribed by the dentist.

  • Document dental care services accurately in patient records.

Safety, Infection Control & Compliance

  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment in compliance with office policies, Cal/OSHA, CDC, and infection-control guidelines.

  • Protect patient confidentiality and maintain HIPAA compliance.

  • Assist with dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification and familiarity with emergency drugs, oxygen, and emergency protocols.

Equipment, Supplies & Office Support

  • Ensure proper operation of dental equipment through routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and coordination of repairs.

  • Maintain dental supply inventory by monitoring stock levels, ordering supplies, and verifying receipt.

  • Conserve dental resources through efficient and appropriate use of equipment and supplies.

  • Answer patient and staff questions and provide information as appropriate.

  • Contribute to patient satisfaction and office production goals through efficient workflow and high-quality service.

  • Assist with other duties as assigned.

  • Maintain regular, predictable attendance.

Professional Development

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through continuing education, workshops, professional publications, and participation in professional organizations as required.

Required Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of chairside assisting experience (PREFERRED)

  • Active California Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) / Extended Function (RDAEF) license

  • Current CPR/BLS certification

  • Completion of a Dental Board-approved radiation safety course

  • Certification in Infection Control (California Dental Board approved)

  • Knowledge of California dental regulations and the scope of practice

  • Knowledge of dental procedures, instruments, and infection control

  • Experience with practice management software (Open Dental, Yapi)

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish, English, Mandarin Chinese /other language)

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 - 4 years of chairside experience

  • Experiences with Ortho, General, Oral Surgery, and Implant
