Introduction to the Job
Takes the lead in development of more complex parts of modules AND/OR drives and owns a technically complex solution.
Leads several technically complex (mono-disciplinary) designs OR a functional design, owning and delivering solutions with full technical ownership, taking industrialization into account.
Works across multiple teams and collaborates with other trains.
Can take lead in interfaces with suppliers, customers, other projects and other engineering disciplines in a less-defined environment (e.g. new supplier, NPI product).
Participates in cross-sector teams to realize customer solutions (end-customer /sectors in Operations).
Aligns on / thinks of solutions with counter parts from multiple adjacent groups. Collaborates with engineers in other trains.
Understands how own designs fits in at subsystem level. Performs critical design engineering tasks, in cooperation with other disciplines and suppliers, maintains cross project view, specifies, designs, develops, tests, and assists in project planning and management as well as competency development. Introduces and drives new approaches on technical level within submodule. Provides work breakdown support to architects/PLs/POs for features/work packages and performance breakdown in own (sub-)module scope. Balances between quality and timely delivery. Advises Cluster Project Leaders & SE & manager on own expertise area.
Self-propelling within own area of expertise, subject to high-level managerial direction.
Guides and impacts the work of peers, typically 3-5 engineers.
Taking the lead in a mechanical design (or parts of it) and guiding the work of a small dedicated mechanical design team.
Roles and Responsibilities
Research
Achieve specific goals for a designated part of a research program. Involves working within established research systems.
Design Requirements and Specifications
Plan and coordinate the identification, elicitation of of product and/or project requirements, conduct analysis of those requirements for completion and alignment, document and manage requirements throughout the life of the project and coordinate the verification of the end deliverable. Generally done at the project level.
Feasibility
Conduct feasibility studies from a technological and organizational perspective and document findings to complete cost-benefit analysis on implementing changes to business processes, products, or business unit structure. Identify feasibility questions and improvements in own domain.
Conceptualization
Contribute to the design of engineering solutions; design the feasibility testing approach and supervise its implementation to support the development and validation of engineering solutions.
Preliminary Design
Develop technical concepts including material choices. Make technical choices in all phases, solve technical issues, devise new approaches to problems encountered. Prepare high level design of the (sub-) module fulfilling the requirements set while addressing architectural and interface choices. Document the high level design in the relevant SEG documents.
Detailed Design
Contribute to the design of engineering solutions; design the feasibility testing approach and supervise its implementation to support the development and validation of engineering solutions.
Detail out the design including its documentation.
Integration
Integrate sub-systems into the system, execute configuration management, and provide support to projects
Product Quality / Testing
Contribute to the specification of Qualification-, Integration-, and Production- Tests,
design and produce associated test tools, realize the qualification of the design by
ensuring the proto production, execute tests and report results.
Develop product specifications and design test procedures and standards. Validate new or existing complex test methods and procedures; identify issues and recommend improvements to contribute to further development.
Safety
Adheres to ASML's EHS policies, procedures and mandatory instructions; identifies and mitigates safety risk and safeguards the environment and well-being of oneself and others. Instructs the team in safe working methods and identifies instances of risky behaviors within the team and takes appropriate action, escalating serious issues as appropriate.
Project Management
Oversee the dependencies between project team tasks, assist PO/PL in planning, proactively signal risk of not delivering on spec and in time, take the lead in teamwork breakdown from features to daily tasks, deliver weekly deliverables, carry out assigned departmental projects.
Provide input to PO/PL for upcoming features in terms of content and high level effort estimates.
Communication and Documentation
Document complex design choices and specifications in all phases to ensure product documentation is up to date and relevant underlying assumptions and restrictions are documented.
Knowledge
Stay up to date on technical developments in one's area of expertise and in general affecting ASML and contribute to the overall broadening and maintenance of ASML' s technology base. Acquire knowledge of neighboring FCs/ICs.
Education and Requirements
Master degree with thorough experience, or equivalent working and thinking level. Able to technically lead engineering team and advise management.

The current base annual salary range for this role is currently:
$102,375-153,563
Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.
