What we are looking for:

 

We are looking for a Compensation Manager to lead the design, analysis, and administration of total rewards programs, including both base pay and incentive pay, that meet Dover Food Retail's objectives, culture & values. The Compensation Manager will also provide training and compensation consultation to the HR team and serve as a trusted advisor/resource to the HR Leadership Team and business leaders. Leads day-to-day compensation activities including production of compensation communications and approvals, reporting, audits, etc. Partners across Dover Food Retail to understand business needs and proactively apply compensation knowledge to develop solutions to help drive the business.

 

What you will be responsible for in this role:

 

  • Developing, implementing, and continually improving compensation strategy, policies, procedures, and infrastructure in partnership with the HR Leadership Team.
  • Providing flawless end-to-end execution of compensation processes to support business objectives.
  • Responsible for governance of promotion policies, off-cycle merit increases, job evaluation for new positions, and leading the compensation offer process.
  • Developing and communicating on an ongoing basis the Dover Food Retail Total Rewards program, equipping managers and employees to use these programs.
  • Providing support to the VP-HR of DFR in its oversight of compensation programs, including preparing materials for meetings, conducting research and analysis, and making recommendations on DFR compensation practices to the President, CFO and the SLT.
  • Developing Total Rewards capability within the HR team, and provide coaching, guidance, and feedback to ensure that they deliver high-quality services to the organization.
  • Partnering with HR and business leaders to ensure that total rewards programs are aligned with the needs of the business and that they are supporting the company's talent management programs.
  • Partner with the HRLT & Finance organization to regularly assess the incentive plans and make suggestions for adjustments to keep them relevant to support the goals of the business.
  • Collaborating with Dover Food Retail leaders on all compensation matters, including ensuring the ongoing integrity of Dover Food Retail's career architecture by effectively educating and communicating with HR Business Partners and leaders as required on this and other compensation topics.
  • Preparing and evaluating job descriptions, performing market pricings, assigning job bands and maintaining the integrity of the compensation structure.
  • Consistently reviews, analyzes, and provides direction to stakeholders regarding internal and external equity for existing and new positions as a part of the Compensation Offer Process.
  • Designing, communicating, implementing, and leading compensation programs, including salary structure, incentive plan design, and merit/salary planning.
  • Managing vendor relationships, surveys and company's participation in salary and variable compensation surveys.
  • Supporting HR analytics initiatives, designs and build compensation metrics, reports, and tools to inform compensation program decisions and analyze business outcomes. 
  • Keeping apprised of local and country compensation laws and regulations to ensure company compliance and seeking to understand new compensation and regulatory trends and their impact on labor markets.
  • Researching current company practices and industry best practices related to compensation to effectively support the business, including seeking feedback from the HR Business Partners and Talent Acquisition as to what trends they are seeing in the marketplace.
  • Conducting data audits to optimize business processes and ensure internal equity.
  • Owning the job description business processes (e.g., designing the process, reviewing for accuracy/advising/editing job descriptions).
  • Leading the annual merit process for Dover Food Retail, along with any off-cycle adjustments and incentive calculations.
  • Partnering with the HR Operations team as needed related to systems updates or any new systems implementations.
  • Analyzing the impact of programs or changes to programs, including reporting, costing, impact to the business, and related change management.
  • Understanding Dover's benefits at a high level and their role in our Total Rewards market positioning.

 

 

What are the basic qualifications?

 

  • 8 or more years of experience in Compensation, Finance or Human Resources
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Finance, or related area

  • CCP (Certified Compensation Professional) certified
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources or a related field
  • Experience providing compensation support in a production / manufacturing environment, including ability to manage and operate at both a strategic and direct level of conducting analysis, design and/or administration of compensation programs
  • Excellent communications skills, both oral and written, as well as ability to interact with all levels of organization
  • Strong Excel & PowerPoint Abilities, including advanced excel knowledge to include use of vlookup, pivot tables, and merging multiple data sources
  • Problem Solving Skills
  • Basic Planning & Project Management Skills
  • Strong Attention to Detail and ability to operate independently
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.
