Job description

Position Summary:

The Solution Manager is a critical member of the Professional Services team, managing engagements with potentially up to eight midsized to large clients concurrently. The Solution Manager role will develop strong relationships with the client, develop a deep understanding of the client’s needs, and drive the overall success of each client engagement. The Solution Manager will then determine how to best leverage resources while managing deliverables, timelines, budgets, status reports, etc., and maintaining the profitability of the project.

The Solution Manager will spend time, on site or remotely, with each client and provide guidance and direction to the team (1-20 consultants). Another key responsibility is understanding the commercial aspects of each account while proactively managing OpenSymmetry's financial risk and raising concerns to management.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a background in Services or Compensation Program Management who is looking to accelerate their career growth and gain direct access to leadership. OpenSymmetry offers less bureaucracy than many larger companies and more reasonable work hours.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will be able to:

  • Demonstrate complete command of the scope of work throughout the system development life cycle (definition, design, build, testing, deployment, and maintenance), enforcing quality assurance standards across deliverables
  • Manage project scope, client change requests, and risks, proactively identifying, assessing, and mitigating issues while ensuring client satisfaction and project stability.
  • Identify and resolve project challenges using problem-solving techniques to overcome obstacles and ensure successful project delivery, aligned with client goals and expectations.
  • Ensure compliance with OpenSymmetry’s project management methodology, including the OS Project Stage Checklist and documentation templates, while maintaining accurate project records in Smartsheets and other platforms. Provide comprehensive status updates covering financials, risks, and milestones.
  • Own and manage project financials, including forecasting, budgeting, profitability, billing, invoicing, and financial reporting, while identifying and driving opportunities to improve revenue and align with organizational targets.
  • Serve as a mediator for internal resource or software issues and resolve conflicting priorities for members of cross-functional teams focused on the delivery of the solution to clients
  • Act as a Project Manager to actively manage support and service delivery contracts from initiation and transition to meet contractual obligations, responding to the client issues and concerns as needed while meeting targeted revenue and cost projections
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships as a trusted advisor, organize and facilitate client and internal governance meetings, and coordinate efforts across project and adjacent teams.
  • Lead project teams of varying size, mentor and provide feedback to team members and peers, and foster a collaborative, productive, and client-focused team environment.
  • Support pre-sale activities by actively engaging in business development efforts, including proposal generation, change requests, sales presentations, and reviewing and contributing to the creation of the Statement of Work as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Project Financials: budgets, billing, staffing/resources, forecasting, profit margin, utilization, etc.
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Experience with establishing and maintaining executive level communications and relationships
  • Strong command of project implementation methodologies and deliverables created during an enterprise systems deployment; experience in developing reusable processes, templates, and toolkits for rapid deployment and/or support activities; experience in project management for SPM, CRM, BI technology implementations is an advantage
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly identify issues, analyze root causes, and implement effective solutions to ensure project success and client satisfaction.
  • Experience in directing a cooperative effort among members of a project team with responsibility for results, including expended costs, delivery methods and staffing
  • Ability to influence and gain acceptance from others in sensitive situations without damage to the relationship
  • Ability to quickly assess and communicate project risks to OpenSymmetry and client management teams
  • Excellent customer advocacy and relationship skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Nice to Have

  • Degree in Business, Computer Science, Math or Science is helpful; Project Management certifications are also helpful
  • Experience with Sales Operations and/or Compensation Administration
  • Experience with one or more of the following tools: IBM ICM, Callidus, Xactly, Oracle, or other Sales Performance Management / Incentive Compensation Management platforms or similar ERP, CRM, or HR enterprise applications.
