A Day in the Life
Our summer internships are full-time (40 hours/week), paid positions lasting 10-11 weeks. We offer competitive compensation, educational and social programming throughout the summer, as well as housing assistance and relocation support for eligible interns.
As an IT intern, you will have broad exposure to our global organizations and leadership teams. Your participation in special projects and strategic initiatives will be critical to overall success of our business strategies.
  • Develop digital healthcare and virtual reality platforms that help patients, doctors, and hospital networks collaborate.

  • Use human-centered design principles to improve system usability for our 90,000 plus employees and millions of customers worldwide.

  • Leverage data analytics and statistical methods to develop business centric insights to support decision making.

  • Identify and recommend new ways to save money and time by streamlining business processes, applications, and systems.

  • Assess our Global IT security and identify meaningful solutions to mitigate risk.

Location and Work Model
The IT Internships are based in Minneapolis, MN. All interns must reside in the U.S. for the duration of the internship.
Medtronic is working a minimum of 4 days a week onsite as part of its commitment to professional growth, cross-functional collaboration, and engineering the extraordinary.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
To be considered for a Summer 2027 IT Internship, your resume must clearly demonstrate how you meet each of these basic requirements.
  • Working toward a bachelor's degree in management information systems, computer information systems, business information systems, a related information systems or business analytics major with an anticipated graduation date of Winter 2027, Spring 2028.

  • Ability to participate full time, 40 hours per week, as part of the intern cohort from June 1-August 14 for semester system programs or June 15-August 21 for quarter system programs.

  • Applicants for Medtronic's Summer Internship Program must be currently authorized to work in the United States. Medtronic does not sponsor work authorization for internship positions. Individuals on temporary visa classifications, including E, F-1 (CPT or OPT), H-1, H-2, L, B, J, or TN, as well as anyone who requires employment sponsorship now or in the future, are not eligible for the Program.

Nice to Have: Preferred Requirements
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), Power BI, AWS, SQL, Python, or similar technologies

  • Experience developing dashboards, reports, data visualizations, or data-driven insights

  • Experience collaborating on team-based academic, research, internship, or organizational projects

  • Relevant coursework, projects, research, certifications, and/or internship experience in IT, computer science, data analytics, business analytics, engineering, or related fields

  • Experience applying data analysis and technical skills to solve business or operational challenges

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$23.25 to $33.25
The base salary range is used nationally in the United States, excluding Puerto Rico. The Medtronic Internship Program offers an hourly rate of pay that falls within the range of $23.25 to $33.25 per hour. The hourly rate offered will be determined by the position and is subject to variation based on the number of years of school completed.
The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).
Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns. Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Please note some of the above benefits may not apply to workers in Puerto Rico.
