Summary
Essential Job Functions include, but are not limited to the following:

The basic function of this role includes: repair and maintain underground mobile equipment and mining infrastructure. This role will also be responsible for installation, repair and maintenance of mine and surface fixed plant assets.
Duties and Responsibilities: include but are not limited to the following: (Management reserves the right to add or modify the duties and responsibilities at any time.)
  • Properly lubricates assigned plant/shop equipment as per routine schedule.
  • Provides a basic assessment of general equipment condition and reports perceived problems to the proper authority.
  • Performs cutting of plate, bolts, etc., through proper use of cutting torch, and basic welding as required
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret job related information; reading schematics: hydraulic, electrical and parts manual
  • Ability to communicate issues clearly and concisely
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Monitors own work to ensure quality.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mobile mining equipment in an underground salt mine; Caterpillar, Komatsu, John Deere, Genie, Joy, Oldenburg, Fletcher equipment, etc.
  • Repair and maintain stationary equipment: conveyor systems, crushers, feeders, screens and other mine infrastructure
  • Properly identify and demonstrate the basic use of common mechanical shop tools and equipment.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent or Completion of Apprenticeship Program or Technical Trade School and 5 years' Experience in Maintenance Field or industrial environment
  • Basic knowledge of mobile electrical principles and lighting with the ability to apply this knowledge in identifying, troubleshooting and resolving issues.
  • Basic knowledge of hydraulic hose parts and uses with the ability to build and install hydraulic hoses on mobile equipment or fixed assets requiring hydraulic hosing. Can identify damaged hoses or hose fittings.
  • Basic knowledge of heavy industrial equipment. Can demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot, repair and service this equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of rotating equipment. Can demonstrate the ability to service these items.
  • Basic knowledge and experience in welding and fabrication of structures and chute work
  • Basic knowledge and experience in repairing and maintaining stationary equipment: Conveyor systems, crushers, feeders, screens and other mine infrastructure
  • Ability to comply with company and MSHA rules and regulations
  • Ability to work in team environments
  • Knowledge and experience in repair and maintenance of diesel equipment

Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Applications; ability to learn new software programs.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, dust, working at heights/high altitudes and extreme heat. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock; explosives and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Employee must be able to work shift rotation, wear full body harness when applicable, walk on uneven ground and perform repetitive motion
