We are seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS&S) Training Specialist to join our team in Cote Blanche, LA. This role supports workplace safety initiatives through training, compliance, audits, reporting, and employee engagement while promoting a strong safety-first culture across the operation.

Compensation
Pay Range: $75,000 - $100,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
Position qualifies for bonus opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop programs: Create training materials and implement EHS&S policies
  • Conduct training: Lead sessions on topics pertaining to company policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Ensure compliance: Educate on regulatory requirements and company standards, accompany inspectors during regulatory inspections
  • Assess & Mitigate Risks: Identify hazards and implement controls
  • Investigate incidents: Participate in accident investigations and root cause analysis
  • Promote culture: Foster a strong safety-conscious environment
  • Assess competency: Develop and perform practical evaluations to ensure miners meet required skill levels
  • Mentorship: Coach and mentor new and experienced miners, providing guidance and support
  • Develop and administer a site wide Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Record keeping: Maintain accurate training records, assessments, and progress reports for the LMS
  • Reporting: Incidents, near misses, and first aids entered into applicable reporting systems
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications
  • The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree, diploma or certificate in Health and Safety discipline
  • The preferred candidate has 5-7 years in a full-time safety leadership role administering health, safety, and training programs
  • 3-5 years MSHA underground or surface mining experience would be an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and harmonize regulatory requirements (MSHA, EPA, LDEQ and ATF) with Compass Minerals EHS&S policies and procedures
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Training experience is considered an asset
  • Strong verbal, presentation and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels
  • Obtain and maintain Louisiana State Explosives license and ATF clearance
  • Obtain and maintain MSHA blue card instructor certification

Physical Requirements
This position requires work in underground mining environments and the ability to wear PPE, navigate mine conditions, work in varying weather conditions, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
