Job description

Position Summary Lincoln County Transit is geared to enabling the public with an inexpensive and convenient transportation in Lincoln County. We provide transportation to every major city within the county, including transportation for disabled persons and senior citizens. Transit operates 20 buses and provides approximately 280,000 rides per year.

Last year, its buses traveled more than 520,000 miles. To continue to serve our public, we are looking for dedicated driver to fulfill our community's locally desired service for the Coast to Valley route operating Sunday-Wednesday. This is a 36 hour position.

Do you love to drive and have a current CDL (A OR B) with a passenger endorsement and Medical Certification. We are looking for a Transit Driver who is a customer service minded individual and who can operate an 8 to 35 passenger bus in a manner that provides safe, courteous, reliable, and efficient passenger transportation. If you like driving, love our beautiful Lincoln County and our scenic landscape, and want to help people get to where they need to go, you could be just who we are looking for.

Be a part of our dedicated Lincoln County Transit team as our Coast to Valley Driver. **This position will work Sunday through Wednesday for 36 hours a week as its regular hours but schedule changes may occur at times. ** Minimum Requirements Highschool Diploma / GED One year transit or similar driving experience with multiple passengers.

Must possess a valid Oregon class A or B commercial driver's license with a passenger endorsement and have a current DOT medical examiner's certificate. Ability to pass a drug screening Job Conditions: This is a safety sensitive position and requires pre-employment and random drug testing mandated by the Federal Transit Administration. Varied shifts; must be willing to work early morning and late evening shifts, weekdays, and weekends.

Work is typically in a sitting position while driving a vehicle. Subject to adverse weather and traffic conditions, exhaust fumes, equipment noises, diesel, and gasoline fuel. Subject to exposure and close contact with verbally and/or physically abusive individuals.

Work Location: Lincoln County Travel: Routes start in various locations. Employee responsibility to report to start of route location or where bus is stationed. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Sit in a transit vehicle for extended periods while working 8 to 10-hour shifts.

Use arms, wrists, and hands to turn steering wheel of transit vehicle. Use legs to apply pressure for braking of transit vehicle. Adjust transit vehicle seats and mirrors to gain necessary line of vision to maneuver vehicle safely.

Maneuver approximately 600 pounds (passenger in a wheeled mobility device). Maintain full and complete use of all limbs to operate vehicle controls. Climb, stand, walk, bend, stoop, crouch and kneel to inspect vehicle or assist passengers.

Push pull or maneuver carts, strollers, wheeled mobility devices. Lift approximately 50 pounds or more. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.

ADA COMPLIANCE: Physical capability to handle high mobility demands and complex personal interactions. Physical Ability: Tasks involve the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light to heavy work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate to heavy weight (20-50 pounds). Sensory Requirements: Most tasks require visual perception and discrimination.

Environmental Factors: Tasks are regularly performed with exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, animals/wildlife, toxic/poisonous agents, violence, disease, or pathogenic substances.
