Full Job Description

Our Client is seeking a motivated individual to fill the position of Energy Consultant at their Lancaster, Ohio office.

Responsibilities Include:

Providing advice, consultation, and solutions to residential and small business members regarding:

  • Energy consumption using advanced metering, AI systems, on-site end-use investigations at customer locations, and live meter testing

  • Energy efficiency and savings options, including customized and AI-generated recommendations

  • Energy programs such as load management, individual and community solar, and smart technologies

  • Power quality investigations ranging from simple blink explanations to coordinating multi-department remote monitoring investigations

  • Education on overall cooperative operations, including the role of distribution, transmission, and generation

  • Safety demonstrations for students, community organizations, and public servants

  • Current energy topics such as the impact of data centers, new energy technologies, EVs, and electrification

The selected candidate will receive incremental training to achieve selected certifications within two years from the hire date. Additional demonstrated skills and certifications will support opportunities for advancement within the job family. This position will report to the Energy Services Manager.


Job Related QualificationsWhat the Job Requires:
  • Minimum of five years of experience with energy companies in customer service, consultation, marketing, operations, or similar roles

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required

  • In lieu of a bachelor's degree, a minimum of five years of relevant energy experience will be considered

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with shared project responsibilities

  • Strong creative problem-solving skills and an inquisitive mindset

  • Effective time management and friendly yet firm negotiation skills

  • Exceptional written, verbal, and listening skills to communicate effectively with members, vendors, and the public while promoting a strong cooperative culture

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of electric, natural gas, or water utility accounting, billing, rates, marketing, metering, operations, and/or engineering

  • Additional training or experience with:

    • Energy cooperative principles

    • HVAC systems

    • Public speaking

    • Mathematics

    • Technical composition / writing
