Basic Purpose

Supports the objectives of the Community Relations department to create and maintain strong, positive relationships with customers, employees and external stakeholders to establish the company as a trusted community partner. Manages various programs, projects and initiatives to engage employees and increase customer awareness of community relations work. Develops relationships with community groups and represents the company at various functions to promote company and community goals. Assists in the execution of community relations initiatives and outreach strategies to meet company and community needs.

Essential Education, Skills, and Environment

Education and Work Experience
Bachelor's degree from an accredited school in communications, marketing, public relations, or social work and 6 years of related experience.  

Candidates that do not possess a bachelor's degree must have a minimum of 10 years of related work experience.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrated knowledge of:
    The community's culture and ability to interact with people from diverse backgrounds on programs/services available within the community.  
    The nonprofit sector, experience in community involvement and in the community/charitable arena.
    Understanding of what it takes to work well in a fast-paced setting which blends both corporate and nonprofit cultures.
    Social media platforms.
Demonstrated skills such as:
    Detail-oriented project manager with organizational, analytical, problem solving, and presentation skills.  
    Verbal and written communication skills.
    Resourcefulness to inspire, engage, and work with all levels of employees and stakeholders.  

Equipment and Applications
PCs, word processing, spreadsheet and database software.  

Work Environment and Physical Demands
General office environment.  No special physical demands required.  Job requires extensive walking, sitting, bending, reaching and standing.  Need to be able to lift up to 20 pounds and carry items. May be requested to work early morning, nights and weekends for special program events.  High stress may occur in meeting deadlines and changing priorities. Some travel and site visits are required.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Actively seeks opportunities to host and/or participate in activities to improve the profile of the company and for the benefit of employees and/or community groups.

Consults with internal and external stakeholders to identify opportunities to support employee engagement and/or community groups.

Acts as a representative for the company, promoting programs and initiatives through presentation development and oral presentation to internal and external audiences as needed, and serves on committees and boards as directed.

Establishes, cultivates and strengthens relationships with various community groups.

Develops project plans and executes logistics for events including promotional campaigns to ensure events are administered on time and within budget and conducts post-event analysis.

Recruits volunteers for Company employee volunteer programs and manages volunteer database and reporting functions.

Identifies and implements new trends in corporate employee engagement strategy.

Responds to requests for information about Community Relations.

Performs a variety of outreach activities through direct interaction with diverse community stakeholders to build strategic relationships.

Assists department in developing and evaluating annual community relations plan and budget.

Writes copy to highlight community activities as well as provide content for social media team to be used in multiple outlets; writes, reviews, and/or edits documents, procedures, guidelines, and additional frameworks related to volunteer and community programs; prepares summary reports for management.

Prepares reports for director and team related to community activities.

Adheres to related policies and procedures during event planning and execution.

Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company.  

Performs related duties as assigned.
