Job Description:

The External Relations Manager leads the site's External Relations function responsible for advancing the company's business objectives and social performance through proactive stakeholder engagement, strategic communications, community and economic development, social-risk management, and effective resolution of community concerns.

The Manager serves as a senior representative of CC&V, advises site leadership on community, local government, media, and reputational matters, and oversees the employees, contractors, consultants, plans, budgets, and programs supporting the External Relations function. The Manager is also responsible for developing and executing strategies that strengthen relationships with communities, elected officials, businesses, educational institutions, local media, and other key stakeholders locally and regionally.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Community & Stakeholder Relations:

• Develop and execute the site's external relations strategy, Stakeholder Engagement Plan (SEP), and related annual plans.

• Identify, map, and prioritize stakeholders and develop appropriate engagement strategies based on stakeholder interests, influence, concerns, and potential site impacts.

• Build and maintain trusted relationships with local communities, local elected officials, government agencies, community organizations, educational institutions, neighboring landowners, and industry partners.

• Represent CC&V at public meetings, community forums, government meetings, public hearings, and other external events.

• Lead community meetings, advisory groups, public consultations, open houses, and stakeholder engagement activities.

• Monitor community sentiment and emerging social or reputational issues and provide site leadership with stakeholder perspectives and recommendations.

• Maintain system-based tracking tools, ensuring data quality, completeness, and audit readiness.

Community Development:

• Lead implementation of the site's Community Development Plan in alignment with business objectives, social-impact findings, and community priorities.

• Establish priorities and oversee community investments, partnerships, and development initiatives related to education, workforce development, local suppliers, economic diversification, infrastructure, tourism, community capacity, and historic preservation.

• Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of economic development initiatives with a strong emphasis on participatory design and community ownership.

• Collaborate with Human Resources, Supply Chain, and other departments to advance local workforce, education, supplier-development, and procurement opportunities.

Social Performance:

• Support implementation of the site's Social Performance framework, including Social Impact Assessments (SIAs), Human Rights commitments, social risk management, and sustainability reporting.

• Identify and evaluate social and reputational risks associated with operations, projects, permitting activities, and organizational changes.

• Own and administer the site's community feedback, concern, and grievance mechanism.

• Manage the site's Cultural Heritage Management program.

• Support reporting against ESG and sustainability objectives.

Communications:

• Set the site's communications priorities and ensure public information is accurate, timely, accessible, and aligned with company positions.

• Oversee public meetings, open houses, community events, mine tours, educational outreach, and visits by elected officials and other stakeholders.

• Support local media inquiries and public messaging in coordination with Corporate Communications.

• Support external communications and stakeholder outreach associated with significant community issues, operational events, or incidents.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Lead the stakeholder-engagement strategy associated with permitting, public hearings, operational changes, and major projects in coordination with Environmental and other responsible departments.

• Ensure community concerns and stakeholder expectations are understood by project teams and site leadership.

• Integrate external stakeholder considerations into business planning, project development, risk assessments, and operational decision-making.

• Partner with Environmental, Operations, Human Resources, Health and Safety, Supply Chain, Land, Legal, and corporate teams to manage external risks and opportunities.

Leadership & Administration:

• Supervise, coach, and develop external relations employees

• Direct contractors and consultants supporting site plans, programs, and external-relations initiatives

• Establish departmental priorities, work plans, performance expectations, and resource requirements.

• Develop departmental budgets and manage expenditures.

• Establish key performance indicators and report results, risks, and emerging issues to site and corporate leadership.

• Manage multiple site plans and initiatives.

• Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulatory requirements.

Is This You??

• Bachelor's Degree in Social Science, Communications, Public Relations, Public Policy or related field preferred.

• 10+ years of progressive experience in community relations, government relations, or economic development.

• Supervisory or leadership experience.

• Experience in mining, natural resources, energy, infrastructure, or other regulated industries preferred.

• Experience leading community investment and development initiatives preferred.

• Demonstrated experience engaging elected officials, community leaders, media representatives, and other public stakeholders.

Working Conditions & Location:

• This is an in-person office position based in Victor, Colorado.

• The schedule for this role is 4 days on/3 days off, 10-hour shifts, with the ability to alter work schedule when required and provide occasional on-call availability.

• The position generally follows the site's established work schedule but requires flexibility to attend community events, public meetings, hearings, and stakeholder engagements that may occur during evenings or weekends.

• Must be able to work at high altitude.

• Must hold a valid vehicle driver's license.
