What is the opportunity?

Global Functions Technology (GFT) is part of RBC's Technology and Operations division. GFT's impact is far-reaching as we collaborate with partners from across the company to deliver innovative and transformative IT solutions. Our clients represent Risk, Finance, HR, CAO, Audit, Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime, Capital Markets, Personal and Commercial Banking and Wealth Management. We also lead the development of digital tools and platforms to enhance collaboration.

As part of GFT, Finance Technology's Ledgers Group supports various CFO functions, Enterprise Finance Control functions, Back Office Operations (Reconciliations & Payments), Personal & Commercial Banking, Insurance, Wealth Management, through the Bank's General Ledger Application Suite, and all Financial & Management Reporting platforms for Head Office and all global businesses.

What will you do?

  • Plan and manage execution of assigned projects, including scope negotiation, initiative ownership, milestones accomplishment and timelines management.

  • Apply appropriate change management process to balance competing demands and priorities. Determine and convey impact of changes on budget, time and risk

  • Continuously identify potential issues, conflicts, and risks. Analyze, mitigate and escalate where appropriate

  • Manage project communications including status reports to executives, stakeholders, business units, vendors, project team, etc.

  • Ensure delivery of solutions and services meet requirements, including internal security standards

  • Coach the scrum team to apply appropriate processes to create successful products.

  • Establish strong working relationships across technical/business units and platforms to build influence and impact with key business partners. Collaborate with groups to define and achieve deliverables and ensure initiatives are effectively integrated into RBC procedures and processes.

  • Coordinate with larger program team to ensure project compatibility and align schedule of deliverables and project finances

What do you need to succeed?

Must Haves

  • 7+ years of progressive project management experience, handling projects in the range of $250K - $2MM and/or 5 years of experience managing large programs and portfolios ranging from $1MM to $5MM

  • Experienced with Agile Scrum or Kanban methodology of project management.

  • Ability to function as a scrum master fostering a self-organization and collaborative scrum team; sheltering the team from outside distractions to keep focus mainly on the agreed sprint goals.

  • Ensure scrum principles and approaches are understood correctly by the development team and stakeholders

  • Strong organizational, project coordination and time management capabilities.

  • Ability to articulate complex issues concisely and communicate effectively and comfortably with all levels of management

  • Deadline-driven and results-oriented; able to meet consistently high quality standards while handling a variety of tasks and deadlines simultaneously.

  • Strategic thinker with excellent interpersonal skills

  • Good working knowledge of JIRA, Confluence, MS Project, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint

Nice-To-Have

  • Strong command over Microsoft office suites displaying advanced level operability with functions such as pivot tables, macros

  • PMP (or other such similar) certification

  • Good knowledge of Financial Capital Markets and associated products

  • Knowledge and experience of compliance and regulatory environments

  • Certification demonstrating competency in financial products such as CSC (Canadian Securities Certificate), CFA (Certified Financial Analyst), FRM (Financial Risk Manager)
