Wage Range: $12.00-13.00/hour
Description of the Position: (Purpose of the Position):
The Music Project Student Assistant will facilitate communication between St. Olaf students involved in musical community engagement initiatives and the community partners they are working with.
Transferable Skills:
  • Career Development - Network to build relationships within and without the St. Olaf community.
  • Communication - Clearly and effectively exchange information with fellow students, faculty and staff, and community partners.
  • Community and Belonging - Work with campus and community partners to build the Music Mentor and Community School program, for the benefit of Oles and area students.
  • Leadership - Work toward organization goals.
  • Professionalism - Understand different working environments and act in the interests of the project's goals.
  • Teamwork - Build relationships inside the St. Olaf campus and the greater Northfield area.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Student Community Engagement Facilitator will
  • Recruit participants and organize training for the Music Mentor Program,
  • Meet with Community School site coordinators, and
  • Pair St. Olaf students with interested musical elementary students.

Additional work includes:
  • Organizing transportation of Oles,
  • Scheduling events,
  • Communicating between student volunteers and the Music Department,
  • Liaising with Svoboda Center Assistant Director for Student Civic Leadership, and
  • Engaging with student service orgs to support the building of cross-campus service-oriented networks.

Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills)
  • Required: Strong communication skills, facility with Google Suite, community engagement experience
  • Preferred: Driver's license, strong musical abilities, intermediate Spanish-language skills
