Coffee Shop Manager - Miracle Grounds Coffee Shop amp; Café
Location/Schedule: Crossnore, NC. Full-time, 40-hour/week position. The Coffee Shop is open Monday – Saturday 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, and this role requires flexibility in scheduling. Workdays may vary based on operational needs. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required for special events. Work involves food preparation and working in a kitchen.

Miracle Grounds serves as a gathering place for employees, students, families, volunteers, donors, and community members. As the Manager, you'll lead daily operations while mentoring student workers, developing your team, creating memorable customer experiences, and helping ensure the coffee shop remains financially sustainable.

Education/Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in business, hospitality, food service, retail management, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years experience in coffee shop, food service, hospitality, retail, or customer service operations required.
  • Supervisory or lead staff experience required.
  • ServSafe certified, or willing to obtain equivalent training within 3 months of hire.
  • Experience managing inventory, cash handling, and daily business operations required.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring students and/or volunteers preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.​
Skills and Competencies:
  • Leadership and team development in a customer service or food service environment
  • Coffee shop, retail, or restaurant operations experience
  • Customer service and relationship-building skills
  • Budgeting, cash handling, inventory, and purchasing experience
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and ServSafe standards
  • Strong organization, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with POS systems and Microsoft Office/Google Workspace
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Key Responsibilities:
The Miracle Grounds Coffee Shop Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of coffee shop operations while creating an outstanding customer experience and developing a positive team culture.
  • Lead the daily operations of Miracle Grounds Coffee Shop, ensuring exceptional customer service and efficient operations.
  • Supervise, coach, schedule, and develop Coffee Shop Associates and student workers.
  • Prepare and serve food and beverages while supporting daily operations as needed.
  • Manage inventory, purchasing, cash handling, budgeting, and financial reporting.
  • Create seasonal promotions and partner with Community Engagement to increase customer traffic and community involvement.
  • Maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation, and organizational standards, including a sanitation inspection grade of 95 or higher.
  • Monitor operational performance and implement improvements that enhance efficiency, customer satisfaction, and financial sustainability.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to support organizational initiatives, events, and fundraising activities.
  • Foster a welcoming environment that reflects Crossnore's mission and provides meaningful learning opportunities for student workers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of Miracle Grounds and Crossnore Communities for Children.
Hiring Range: $45,000 to $51,000/annually - Compensation is based on experience and qualifications. Candidates who meet only the minimum requirements can expect to start at the beginning of the range, while those with additional and relevant experience and/or advanced skills may be considered for higher starting pay within the range.
