Where you will work:
This position offers a hybrid work option up to 50% remote and is based out of the Onalaska, WI; Eau Claire, WI or Rochester, MN office location(s).

The contributions you will make:

This position provides tax preparation, planning and consulting support for clients and the Tax and Accounting team. Collaboratively builds relationships with clients and offers tax and accounting knowledge and services under the direct mentoring of a Senior Tax Consultant.

A typical day:

Tax Services

  • Performs and prepares income tax returns under the guidance of a tax consultant.
  • Serves as a mentor and resource for tax interns during tax season.
  • Plans and organizes workload for maximum efficiency and productivity.
  • Collects on delinquent client accounts.

Accounting Services

  • Assist in accounting transactions in a timely manner and in accordance with the GAAP and Compeer policies and procedures.
  • Assist Accounting Specialist with accurate and timely accounting processing.
  • Responsible for less complex accounting accounts, including depreciation, payroll processing, and full-service accounts.
  • Meets multiple deadlines on accounts including completion of processing accounting files in time for tax planning, W-2 and 1099 preparation and year-end tax preparation.

Industry Expertise

  • Actively learns all aspects of tax planning and preparation.
  • Seeks out and participates in opportunities for self-development of technical knowledge, business management, tax law, or interpersonal skills.
  • Provides answers and expertise to Compeer team members and clients related to tax and accounting.
  • Participates in the development and presentation of ongoing educational programs for Compeer team members and clients regarding tax and accounting services.
  • Assists Compeer team members at company sponsored events.
  • Develops knowledge in all Compeer products and services.

Sales and Prospecting

  • Markets and cross-sells all Compeer products and services to existing clients and prospects.
  • Develops relationships with Compeer team members in assigned office or territory to facilitate referrals and new business.

The skills and experience we prefer you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Experience preparing taxes preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends in order to meet deadlines and client expectations.
  • Limited travel required

The actual title and base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role is eligible for variable compensation and other benefits.

$57,900—$82,100 USD
