AGENCY/LOCATION : The Child Advocacy Center of Greater Rochester*
*Reliable transportation is necessary, as local travel is required
GENERAL DESCRIPTION/ POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Development & Events Intern will work directly with The Child Advocacy Center of Greater Rochester's (The CAC) Development team to solicit in kind gifts, assist with event logistics, volunteer coordination, community outreach opportunities, marketing initiatives, and donor engagement. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organized and motivated individual to develop skills in nonprofit development, marketing, fundraising, and to learn about The CAC.
This is an unpaid internship with a flexible schedule, lasting from May-August 2026 with the ability to adjust start and end date based on student availability.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Marketing & Communications
โข Assist in coordinating social media and marketing campaigns
โข Support email marketing efforts (newsletters, appeals, event promotions)
โข Assist in website updates
โข Assist in designing graphics aligned with The CAC branding
Community Outreach
โข Conduct in-depth research on funding possibilities for fundraising events
โข Represent the agency at community and corporate events
โข Assist with research, planning and implementation of third-party events and community outreach initiatives
Special Events
โข Assist with in-kind coordination
โข Assist with set-up and break-down of events
โข Support volunteer coordination
โข Assist in the preparation and organization of event materials, including signage, dรฉcor, auction items, and other event-related assets
Development
โข Support donor stewardship efforts and communications
โข Conduct research on funding opportunities and support the development of grant proposals
โข Other administrative duties as assigned

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
โข Currently enrolled in a degree program in Communications, Marketing, Hospitality, Business, Nonprofit Management, or other related field
โข Previous coursework or experience in fundraising, marketing, non-profit management, or community outreach
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
โข Must be comfortable with outreach and follow up to sponsors and community partners (including telephone communications)
โข Be responsible, hard-working, ethical, and committed to the mission of The CAC
โข Possess a high level of organizational skills and be detail-oriented
โข Possess solid oral and written communication skills
โข Computer proficient with computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite)
โข Ability to multitask
โข Interest in a nonprofit career - particularly development and fundraising
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
โข A confidentiality statement must be signed
โข Background check must be cleared
โข Mandated Reporter training must be completed
TIME COMMITMENT :
โข The minimum requirement is 10 weeks for a minimum of 120 hours
โข Hours are flexible within 9am-4pm. range, Monday through Friday
โข Evenings and weekends as needed
