POSITION SUMMARY:


Springs Rescue Mission considers every position an expression of ministry and a valued part of our team. Interns are expected to maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and affirm SRM's Statement of Faith and Core Values while serving alongside staff, volunteers, guests, and community partners.


The student Intern position provides structured educational experiences that integrate professional education, Christian service, and supervised field learning within Springs Rescue Mission's ministry. The internship is designed to support the development of competent, ethical, and compassionate professionals through meaningful participation in serving individuals experiencing homelessness, poverty, addiction, and other life challenges.

Interns become part of Springs Rescue Mission's transformative service model, working alongside staff across multiple programs and pathways that support individuals throughout their journey toward stability, restoration, and long-term independence. Through supervised practice, reflective learning, and progressive responsibility, interns apply classroom knowledge to real-world ministry while developing professional competencies consistent with their academic program and Learning Agreement.

This internship is governed by the Springs Rescue Mission Student Internship Policy and Procedures Manual, which establishes the educational framework, supervision standards, professional expectations, and evaluation process. Internship activities are individualized through collaboration between the student, university, and Site Supervisor.


This is an unpaid educational internship requiring a minimum commitment of two academic semesters and at least twelve (12) hours per week unless otherwise approved through the university affiliation agreement.



Requirements

ย CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in supervised learning experiences aligned with academic and professional competencies.
  • Observe, assist, and participate in guest and tenant services under supervision.
  • Provide life skills support, resource navigation, and basic case management activities as assigned.
  • Assist with groups, classes, community activities, pantry operations, and special events when appropriate.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, partner agency interactions, and tenant engagement opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and complete assigned administrative tasks.
  • Attend required supervision, meetings, trainings, and review SRM communications.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies while working within training and supervision.
  • Comply with university affiliation agreements and all SRM policies and procedures.
  • Complete additional learning assignments identified by the Site Supervisor.

EDUCATION:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited associate, bachelor's, or master's degree program in Social Work, Behavioral Health, Human Services, or another related field as approved through the Springs Rescue Mission Student Internship Policy and Procedures Manual.

  • Meets all requirements established by the student's academic institution and the Springs Rescue Mission Student Internship Policy and Procedures Manual.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is primarily indoors with occasional walking, stair climbing, and light to moderate lifting while assisting with program activities. Some evening or Saturday learning opportunities may be available.


INTERNSHIP EXPECTATIONS: ย This is an unpaid educational internship requiring a minimum commitment of two academic semesters and at least 12 hours per week. Intern responsibilities, supervision, evaluations, professional conduct, confidentiality, competency development, and internship completion are governed by the Springs Rescue Mission Student Internship Policy and Procedures Manual.ย
