About the role:

The Community Development Officer is accountable for developing and expanding community-based business development relationships that support CFBankโ€™s CRA strategy, residential mortgage growth, and broader community engagement objectives. This role self-sources residential mortgage opportunities, builds referral networks, identifies partnership opportunities with community organizations and professionals, and works closely with Mortgage, Compliance, and business leaders to align outreach efforts with CRA, fair lending, and market development goals.

What youโ€™ll do:

  • Develop and execute community development and business development strategies that support CRA lending, market growth, and CFBankโ€™s presence in low- to moderate-income communities.

  • Self-source residential mortgage loans and related business opportunities through networking, prospecting, community outreach, and referral development.

  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, nonprofit partners, housing agencies, realtors, financial professionals, and other referral sources to generate CRA and community development opportunities.

  • Represent CFBank at community events, homebuyer education sessions, affordable housing initiatives, and other outreach activities that strengthen market visibility and support business development objectives.

  • Partner with internal leaders to identify opportunities that connect community development efforts with mortgage production, deposit growth, small business relationships, and overall market expansion.

  • Comply with Bank policy and government regulations related to mortgage lending.

  • Maintain knowledge of available loan products, processing procedures, and underwriting guidelines.

  • Market and sell CFBank Mortgage Products through inside and outside sales to networks and develop referral contacts from realtors, past customers, financial planners, accountants, attorneys and other professionals.

  • Work with potential and existing clients to uncover and sell products that best meet customer needs, gaining commitments for mortgage loans.

  • Conduct pre-qualification/pre-approval loan process by gathering financial information from customer and reviews customer credit to match customer need with best product available.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success in community development, business development, CRA mortgage lending, affordable housing outreach, or related relationship-building activities.

  • Must maintain an active registration status with NMLS (Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry).
