General Summary
The Director will serve as the primary Community Engagement Leader for Odessa College in Andrews, Seminole, and surrounding communities, actively engaging with community members, businesses, school districts, civic organizations, and workforce partners to identify needs and develop collaborative solutions and educational opportunities. The Director will build and maintain strong community partnerships and serve as a primary representative of Odessa College throughout the region. The Director will coordinate with OC faculty, staff, and administration to develop and expand credit and non-credit course offerings, workforce training, and other educational opportunities that respond to identified community and workforce needs. The Director will demonstrate a strong understanding of business, workforce, and community needs and the ability to create an environment supportive of student success.
Specific Position Duties
  • Accept, process, and approve applications for admission, including readmission, dual credit and early admission.
  • Assist with dual credit registration and other student development activities at the Andrews and Seminole Centers.
  • Serve as the primary Community Engagement Leader for Odessa College in Andrews, Seminole, and surrounding communities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community members, businesses, school districts, workforce organizations, civic organizations, governmental entities, and other community partners.
  • Regularly engage with community members and stakeholders to identify educational, workforce, training, and other community needs and communicate those needs to appropriate OC departments and leadership.
  • Collaborate with OC faculty, staff, administration, businesses, and community partners to develop courses, programs, training opportunities, and services that address identified community and workforce needs.
  • Serve as the primary Odessa College contact for community engagement efforts in Seminole and surrounding communities.
  • Represent Odessa College at community meetings, business meetings, civic organizations, school functions, community events, and other activities to strengthen relationships and increase awareness of OC programs and services.
  • Identify opportunities to expand Odessa College's presence, enrollment, partnerships, and educational offerings throughout the communities served.
  • Advise and assist the Vice President for Instruction in setting and achieving the goals of the Andrews and Seminole Center programs.
  • Supervise the daily operation of the Andrews Center.
  • Recruit, develop, plan, and promote credit and non-credit offerings at the Andrews and Seminole Centers based on student, community, and workforce needs.
  • Provide academic advisement and other counseling services to students enrolled in credit and non-credit classes.
  • Facilitate the growth and development of Dual Credit offerings for Andrews and Seminole ISD.
  • Assist with orientation, testing, registration, and other student development activities at the Andrews and Seminole Centers.
  • Assist faculty and students with the exchange of information concerning the various educational programs at the Andrews and Seminole Centers.
  • Plan and monitor a budget for the Andrews Center.
  • Plan, supervise, and report all budget matters related to the Andrews Center to the Vice President for Instruction.
  • Provide and assist students with applications for financial aid, helping students seek, obtain, and make the best use of all available financial resources.
  • Assist in the development of the Andrews and Seminole Centers by pursuing new sources of support in the private and public sectors and developing strategic partnerships.
  • Work closely with department chairs when planning each semester's course master schedule to ensure offerings align with student, community, and workforce needs.
  • Monitor community and workforce trends and communicate emerging educational and training needs and opportunities to OC leadership.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships that support enrollment, workforce development, student success, and the growth of Odessa College in the communities served.
  • Seek opportunities to collaborate with local employers and community organizations to create pathways to education, workforce training, credentials, and employment.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of community engagement efforts and use feedback from community partners to improve programs, services, and outreach.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Some understanding of workforce education, continuing education programs, community college programs, and/or community engagement.
  • Strong interpersonal communication, relationship-building, and writing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with community stakeholders and develop collaborative partnerships.
  • Ability to produce effectively under tight deadlines on multiple projects.
  • Industrious, self-motivated, productive, team-player attitude.
  • A commitment to excellence in instruction and student success.
  • An enthusiasm for learning and the ability to motivate others to learn.
