RWE Americas is seeking a strategic and experienced Senior Director of Internal Communications to lead the development and execution of strategic communications that inform, engage, and inspire employees across the organization. This role will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and operating teams, ensuring consistent, high-quality communications that reflect our values and business priorities. This role will lead a team of approximately three direct reports.
Role Responsibilities:
  • Set the strategic direction for internal communications across the company, leading the development and execution of an enterprise-wide strategy aligned with corporate vision, values, and business priorities
  • Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to senior executives, guiding organizational planning, changing communications, messaging, and approaches to shaping culture and employee engagement
  • Build, lead, and mentor an enterprise internal communications team distributed across key U.S. geographies, ensuring consistent execution and alignment with corporate priorities
  • Oversee enterprise content strategy and storytelling, directing the planning, creation, and delivery of compelling internal communications across channels, including email, video, live events, intranet, and internal social platforms
  • Lead executive communications for the CEO and Executive Leadership Team, shaping high-impact narratives, speeches, presentations, and enterprise narratives that articulate and reinforce strategic direction
  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight to internal communications partners embedded across the business, ensuring alignment with the enterprise communications strategy and employee engagement goals
  • Design and optimize enterprise-wide internal communications channels and engagement strategies, ensuring targeted, measurable, and effective delivery of messaging across diverse audiences
  • Establish and enforce internal communications governance, standards, and best practices across all operating locations and departments to drive consistency, clarity, and enterprise alignment
  • Direct the planning and execution of enterprise-level internal events, including town halls, leadership forums, and employee engagement initiatives, that reinforce company strategy and culture
  • Lead the strategic development and international alignment of English-language internal communications, partner closely with Corporate and international colleagues.
  • Define and manage measurement frameworks, tracking engagement, channel performance, and impact metrics to assess progress against the internal communications strategic plan
  • Stay ahead of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in employee communications, bringing forward innovative approaches that elevate employee experience and advance organizational goals

Job Requirements and Experiences:
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Advertising, Marketing, or a related field
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in internal communications, public relations, or corporate communications; 5 years in a leadership role at a large corporate organization
  • Proven success in leading enterprise-wide communications and strategies that drive culture, alignment, and performance
  • Background in the renewable energy or broader energy sector preferred
  • Deep understanding of employee experience, change management, and organizational development
  • Exceptional storytelling and executive communications skills, with the ability to influence and inspire across all levels
  • Collaborative leader with strong stakeholder and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
  • Strategize mindset, proactively anticipates change
  • Strong organization skills and ability to lead a team, managing multiple tasks and deliverables
  • Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
  • Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
  • Responds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachable
  • Detail-oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business concepts
  • This position is an office-based role with some travel (approximately 20%) and visits to other RWE offices and field locations
  • Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time
