Job description

ITG Communications is hiring a Senior Project Manager in Smithfield, RI.
Purpose: The Senior Project Manager - Construction is responsible for leading and executing complex or high-visibility construction projects, often tied to specific clients, regions, or contractual scopes. This role provides comprehensive oversight of project planning, budgeting, scheduling, vendor coordination, and client communication to ensure project delivery meets all operational, financial, and quality targets
Responsibilities
• Perform aerial telecommunications construction activities including pole climbing, strand placement, cable placement, and lashing of fiber or copper cables according to project specifications and safety protocols.
• Lead and direct groundmen and crew members in supporting aerial construction activities.
• Interpret and follow telecommunications construction plans, design maps, and fiber route documentation.
• Install aerial telecommunications infrastructure including messenger strand, fiber optic cable, copper cable, anchors, hardware, and related components.
• Operate bucket trucks, utility vehicles, and specialized aerial construction equipment such as tensioners, cable pullers, and lashers.
• Ensure installation practices comply with National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), company standards, and client specifications for telecommunications infrastructure.
• Identify and resolve field construction challenges including clearance issues, pole loading concerns, and route adjustments.
• Perform quality checks on completed aerial construction work to ensure compliance with engineering designs and client requirements.
• Document work progress, material usage, and field conditions for reporting and project tracking.
• Maintain strict adherence to safety policies including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), fall protection, and work zone safety procedures.
• Set up and maintain proper traffic control and work zone safety measures in accordance with applicable safety guidelines.
• Train and mentor groundmen and junior crew members on proper aerial telecom construction techniques and safety procedures.
Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
Experience:
• Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in construction operations, with 3+ in a leadership role
• Proven ability to manage multi-site construction activities and diverse project scopes
• Strong knowledge of field construction processes, scheduling, and cost control
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Exposure:
• Internal: Collaborates with operations, construction crews, safety, legal, and support departments
• External: Primary point of contact for clients, subcontractors, vendors, and municipalities
• Travel required to job sites, client offices, and project meetings
Key Measures / Key Performance Indicators:
• On-time, on-budget delivery of assigned projects
• Client satisfaction and contract compliance
• Safety and quality audit scores
• Financial performance and variance control
• Subcontractor performance and accountability

Physical Requirements
• Ability to visit construction sites regularly, walk uneven terrain, climb ladders, and access confined areas
• Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs during field assessments or inspections
• Visual acuity to read drawings, reports, and plans; auditory capacity for calls and field coordination
• Must maintain a valid driver's license and be able to travel frequently
