Organization Summary
As the nonprofit, nonpartisan 501(c)(3) philanthropic partner of the National Park Service, the Trust for the National Mall is dedicated to restoring, enriching and preserving the National Mall. The Trust raises private funding, provides project expertise and in-kind support to help elevate the National Mall and its historic purpose, which takes on new meaning during America's 250th anniversary year on America's Front Yard. The Trust leads capital restoration projects, mobilizes volunteer operations and provides innovative educational experiences to ensure the National Mall, with 36 million visits each year, endures and inspires now and for future generations.
The Trust is at an exciting time in our history as we celebrate the nation's 250th anniversary. We are a collaborative team with a fast-paced and dynamic environment. We offer competitive salaries, a comprehensive benefits package, and generous time off policies.
Brief Position Summary
The Communications Coordinator will support the development and implementation of projects for the Trust for the National Mall's Marketing and Communications team, with an emphasis on social media and media relations. The Communications Coordinator will also execute projects that bring attention to the Trust for the National Mall and AMERICA'S BALL for THE MALL our annual gala, through press operations, website updates, stewardship materials, and signage. The Communications Coordinator will work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment with all members of the Marketing & Communications team, and in collaboration with colleagues in other teams across the organizations as needed.
Salary Range is $55,000 to $60,000.
Core Responsibilities:
  • Write, edit, and coordinate clear and effective social media posts in coordination with our outside digital marketing partner to bring positive attention to the Trust brand, while following the team's brand guidelines.
  • Write and produce effective, high-quality, and impactful video products.
  • Design, modify and update creative graphics/content to support Trust branding and events.
  • Assist in the writing of web and digital newsletter articles.
  • Assist in coordination of media pitching, release drafting, interview development with outside agency.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Key Skills
  • Experience creating concepts and drafting content for social media across all channels.
  • Experience editing and creating graphic design content.
  • Successful track record of media relations and making press placements valued.
  • Website management and content update experience.
  • Familiarity with utilizing brand standards and guidelines.

  • Successful candidate will have the ability to distill complex and lengthy information into compelling messaging products and graphics.
  • Proficiency in clear, effective, and detail-oriented graphic design is highly valued.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, graphic design, digital arts, or other related fields. (Required)

Experience:
  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience in the fields of social media, graphic design, communications, marketing and brand management. (Required)
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite tool sets, particularly InDesign and Photoshop are highly valued.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with relevant experience at non-profit organizations and campaigns and demonstrated experience in successfully carrying out projects that increase brand awareness.
