Job Description

The Communications Assistant provides administrative and game-day support to the Raptors PR team across live events, departmental operations, and content preparation. This entry-level role will assist with statistical reporting, distribution of communications materials, archival organization, and general game-night execution to support the day-to-day needs of the department.

This role is ideal for an organized, detail-oriented individual looking to gain hands-on experience in professional sports communications within a fast-paced team environment.

Position Type: Part-time Contract

What You'll Do

  • Support Raptors PR staff during home games, events, and select team activities
  • Assist with preparation, organization, and distribution of game notes, statistical reports, and other communications materials
  • Help maintain department archives, media files, records, and distribution lists
  • Assist with statistical research, fact-checking, and information gathering
  • Support game-day setup and operational preparation within media and communications work areas
  • Coordinate printing, document preparation, and internal material organization
  • Assist with postgame reporting and distribution of final statistical materials
  • Provide administrative support for ongoing departmental projects and seasonal initiatives
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism, accuracy, and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
  • Support additional communications and game-night operational needs as assigned

What You Bring

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently under tight timelines
  • Strong interest in sports communications, media, or live event operations
  • Knowledge of basketball and familiarity with sports statistics considered an asset
  • Comfortable working collaboratively in a team environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as required by the game and event schedule

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a post-secondary program in Communications, Journalism, Sports Management, Media, or a related field preferred
  • Previous experience in sports, live events, student media, athletics communications, or game-day operations considered an asset
