FULL TIME AND PART TIME
SUMMARY: Serves as an assistant to residents to enhance the quality of life and assist in maintaining independence in an Assisted living environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (*Other duties may be assigned}
Promote Residents independence and offer supportive services as needed and/or desired.
Directing or assisting Residents with activities of daily living such as dressing, bathing, grooming, and incontinent care as permitted by the facility's directives.
Being alert to changes in Residents and reporting such changes to the charge Nurse. Monitoring specific Residents per directive of the Charge Nurse.
Responding to emergency situations.
Communicating information to Residents regarding appointments, meals etc.
Maintain and update service card weekly and as needed when pertinent changed occur. Participate in Level of Service (LOS) meetings.
Assist as directed in transferring a Resident to a health care area.
Assist Residents as needed in maintaining a clean, safe and home-like environment. Ability to perform blood glucose monitoring, initiate first aid and take vital signs.
Assist Dining Services with meals in ancillary dining rooms.
Direct Resident, family or concerned significant others to the Charge Nurse when concerns are expressed regarding quality of living arraignments at BRC.
Department related filing, thinning charts as directed, computer entry, faxing, copying and telephone answering skills.
Assist appropriate Resident with medication oversight as directed by the Charge Nurse. Record pertinent information as directed by the Charge Nurse.
Initiate and conduct socializing activities within the Oakview 4 neighborhood as determined by the activity calendar and spontaneous need.
Inform, encourage, and assist Residents to activities within the Community. Records supply needs and assists in putting away supplies.
Thin charts as directed.
Assists with other duties as necessary for the smooth operation of the Department and Community.
Assist a new Resident in adjusting to the Home by: Greeting the Resident upon admission.
Explaining policies and procedures of BRC.
Showing the Resident the location of various departments, post office, bank, dining room, etc. when requested.
Making sure the Resident is instructed in the use of the call light and if applicable, instruct the Resident on the use of the in-house phone during an emergency.
Meet the psychologic needs of Residents by:
Maintaining the Residents dignity, providing privacy and confidentiality.
Giving gentle and sincere attention to the Residents desires and service needs. Enhance professional and personal growth and development by:
Attendance at educational programs, in services and scheduled meeting. Successful completion of at least 8 hours of continuing education annually including 4 hours of dementia education:
Participate in Team projects as approved by the Charge Nurse.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. Previous personal care training and current first aid training desired. Basic computer and e-mail skills to enable communication and assistance with printing forms when needed. Must be at least 16 years of age.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
