The work unit administers the Division of Parks and Wildlife's Game Damage Claims, Game Damage Preventive Materials and Commercial Parks Programs.

The Game Damage programs are legislatively mandated to mitigate game damage to livestock & agricultural producers and private land owners. The Game Damage Claims and Game Damage Prevention Materials Programs are guided by State Statute Title 33 Article 3 - Damage by Wildlife and Wildlife Commission Regulation Chapter 17. Description of Job This position exists to support the game damage program with statewide procurement, storage, delivery, and inventory of game damage prevention materials; record and file legal documents (e.g., cooperative agreements); develop schematics used to construct game damage prevention fencing designs; research new materials and principles for game damage prevention; support the administration of material allocation and operating budgets; and coordinate the use and delivery of materials

Purchasing, Inventory Oversight, and Expenditure Administration: This position is responsible for supporting the purchasing, quality control, and delivery of statewide game damage prevention materials. In that regard, the position's responsibilities include: Determine material specifications and amounts for yearly disbursement; Submit material specifications for the purchasing process Maintain inventory and conduct annual inventory count of all types of materials used for game damage prevention; Solicit annual pyrotechnics, bear deterrent and elk panel orders for 18 CPW areas; Communication and coordination of large purchases with appropriate CPW staff. The position receives, processes and reconciles purchase orders for all game damage prevention materials.

In that regard, the position's responsibilities include: Receive, unload, and ensure accurate quantity and quality of delivered materials Submit timely and accurate delivery receipts and other required documentation Support CORE data entry Support monitoring of game damage material allocation and operating budget, Coordinate the statewide delivery of game damage prevention materials: This position coordinates the statewide deliveries of game damage prevention materials. In that regard, the position's responsibilities include: Loading materials (both physically and mechanically) and coordinating deliveries with landowners and CPW District Wildlife Managers and other CPW personnel; Operating heavy equipment including forklifts, skid steers and semi-trucks that require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL), and; Prioritizing deliveries and coordinating with the Game Damage Technician IV and any seasonal employees to ensure on-time, safe, and accurate deliveries. Communicate and coordinate with requesting landowner on expected delivery date and requested delivery location.

Maintain CDL. Fulfillment & Prevention Technical Support: This position supports the technical fulfillment of approved cooperative agreements for fencing materials and serves as the primary subject matter expert for prevention applications. Determine the types and amounts of materials needed to construct fences from supplied sketches to complete and insure protection of property from big game damage.

Provide training on the proper use, installment, and configuration of game damage materials to new DWMs, landowners, and agricultural organizations. Update, improve, and develop educational materials and methods designed to reduce game damage claims based on emerging issues. Equipment and Facilities Maintenance: This position ensures safe and operable conditions through maintaining equipment, grounds and facilities in coordination with CPW Area staff.

In that regard, the position's responsibilities include: Support the operational readiness of the supply yard by coordinating preventative maintenance and repairs for specialized tools, heavy equipment, and the state vehicle fleet. Maintain DOT compliance by ensuring vehicles are road-legal for CDL operators and maintaining mandatorydocumentation. Maintain tools, equipment, and facilities in accordance with State and CPW policies to ensure a safe work environment and secure storage of assets.

Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights Minimum Qualifications Three (3) years of relevant experience in agriculture, construction, warehouse operations, procurement, natural resource management, or other experience directly related to the work assignment which included the management of physical inventory and/or the operation of heavy equipment. OR A combination of related education in Natural Resources, range management, wildlife biology, wildlife management, and/or relevant experience in agriculture, construction, warehouse operations, procurement, natural resource management, or other experience directly related to the work assignment which included the management of physical inventory and/or the operation of heavy equipment equal to three (3) years.

Class Code: Technician Preferred Qualifications Current or former State experience relevant to the position. Current or former CPW work or volunteer experience. Experience managing detailed records and quality control of data.

Experience with agricultural practices and associated machinery/tools. Experience with building maintenance and associated tools. Noxious weed spraying experience.

Knowledge and abilities with wildlife habitat improvements, mitigations, and manipulations. Basic computer literacy and procurement skills paired with a knowledge of agricultural and/or wildlife resources. Experience independently problem-solving, coordinating remote facility operations, and maintaining professional relationships.

Required Competencies Excellent organizational and time management skills. Strong level of written and oral communication skills. Ability to use and operate computers/e-mail/spreadsheets/associated technology.

Ability to move smoothly between variable tasks. Ability to work independently. Ability to obtain and maintain position certifications.

Ability to run and maintain machinery and equipment. Ability to maintain building and landscaping infrastructure. Ability to manage multiple projects.

Position regularly delivers Game Damage materials throughout the state, requiring overnight travel. Conditions of Employment This posting is only open to residents of the State of Colorado at the time of submitting your application. Must possess and maintain a valid State of Colorado Commercial Drivers License (Must currently possess minimum of Class B with the ability to obtain Class A CDL with air brake endorsement within 6 months of employment).

Pre-employment background and driving record check required. This position will require but is not limited to the handling of pesticides, fertilizer, equipment batteries, gasoline, diesel, paint, and motor oil. Position will be required to work some weekends and long/odd hours.

Occasional travel and overnight stays are required for training, regularly delivers Game Damage materials throughout the state, requiring overnight travel Must pass a Physical, Drug test and Background check. Ability in operating tools, OHVs, heavy equipment, fork lift, skid steer, etc. Former State employees who were disciplinarily terminated or resigned in lieu of termination must disclose the information on the application and provide an explanation why the prior termination or resignation should not disqualify their application from the current position.

(Please Note: Absent extraordinary circumstances, prior disciplinary termination or resignation in lieu of termination will disqualify the applicant from future State employment with DNR). Pursuant to the DNR-120 Fleet and Driving Standards Administrative Directive, any worker who will be expected to drive a State-owned vehicle is responsible for maintaining a safe driving record and a valid driver license prior to driving any State-owned vehicle.
