Job description

At Ovadia Interior Design and Architecture, we believe the best design lives where art and discipline meet. We are a nationally recognized interior design and architecture studio in Manhattan, creating fully customized, emotionally engaging interiors for high-end homes, from the quiet luxury of private estates in Deal and Long Island to the refined complexity of Brooklyn brownstones.
We are looking for a Senior Interior Designer with a rare combination: the artistic soul of a visionary and the steady, organized mind of a great project manager. To us, those are not opposites. They are the DNA of a true studio leader. In this role you will bridge big-picture design direction and the day-to-day execution that brings it to life, turning "The Art of Living" into spaces people fall in love with.
This is also a growth role, and a genuinely fun one. Beyond leading beautiful projects, you will help shape where the firm goes next by tapping your network to bring exciting new residential commissions through our doors. You will work with a talented, supportive team and a technology stack you will feel right at home in: AutoCAD, Miro, ClickUp, and Studio Designer.
What You Will Be Doing
Design and technical leadership
  • Lead the creative narrative so every home tells a cohesive, captivating story. You will run design charrettes and build immersive mood boards that turn big client dreams into real, livable, glamorous spaces.
  • Produce shop-drawing-quality construction documents in AutoCAD. Our aesthetic lives in the custom details, so this means expert detailing of millwork, stone transitions, and integrated lighting that is fully constructible, code-compliant, and coordinated with MEP and structural engineers.
  • Own construction administration as the site lead and guardian of the design intent. You will attend weekly site meetings, review framing, rough-ins, and finishes with a sharp eye, and creatively solve field issues with contractors without compromising the vision or the timeline.

Project management and operations
  • Wear the project manager hat by building and maintaining detailed budgets and schedules, spotting the critical path, and keeping tasks moving.
  • Guide junior team members by assigning and monitoring their work so every milestone, from concept to final install, lands with precision.
  • Manage the full procurement lifecycle with care, reviewing proposals and purchase orders, tracking lead times through expediting lists, and keeping budgets on point.
  • Help us run a smart, data-aware studio. You will aim for a personal target of 80 percent billable efficiency and use those insights to spot bottlenecks and coach the team toward smoother workflows.
Leadership and business development
  • Use your professional network to identify and win new high-end residential opportunities, and represent our company out in the world at industry events.
  • Be a player-coach who mentors our Junior and Intermediate Designers, redlining drawings for quality, sharing firm standards, and championing their growth with generous, constructive feedback.
  • Serve as the face of the project for clients, communicating with professionalism, empathy, and transparency, and building the kind of trust that lasts for years.

Requirements
  • 7 or more years of post-graduate experience in high-end residential design (NYC experience preferred)
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in Interior Design or Architecture
  • A proven track record of nurturing client relationships, plus the drive and willingness to bring new projects into the firm
  • Expert-level AutoCAD (this one is non-negotiable)
  • Proficiency in Studio Designer, including the procurement and project management modules
  • Experience with ClickUp or similar project management software, including agile task management and Gantt scheduling
  • Comfort with Miro or other whiteboard tools for digital presentation boards and workflows
  • Experience with Clockify or similar time-tracking and efficiency reporting
  • Experience putting AI and other tools to work to sharpen workflows, and an interest in helping the studio adopt them thoughtfully
  • Deep knowledge of interior architecture and custom millwork, strong presentation skills, and the ability to run with minimal supervision

Benefits
  • Salary of $90,000 to $120,000, commensurate with experience
  • A competitive commission structure for new business you bring into the firm
  • Comprehensive health benefits
  • Paid time off
  • Professional development support, because we want you to keep growing with us

Ready to lead beautiful work alongside people who love what they do? We would love to hear from you.
