Job description

TITLE: Carpentry Trainer DEPARTMENT: Meskwaki Apprenticeship Program

CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow established rules and regulations; maintain a safe, clean working environment.
  • Daily supervision & mentorship of Meskwaki Apprenticeship Program participants in carpentry, welding, cement work, drywall, roofing, ect.
  • Organize, file and maintain daily records
  • Assist in the coordination of service call & mechanical construction projects
  • Assist in the planning & coordination of on the job and learning lab activities
  • Assist in the assessment/evaluation of Meskwaki Apprenticeship Program participants
  • Assist in the development & execution of on the job learning in accordance to the Meskwaki Apprenticeship Program curriculum
  • Complete commercial/residential construction projects in a timely manner as assigned
  • Installing foundations, walls, floors, ceilings, and roofs using materials such as: wood steel, metal, concrete, plastics, and composites.
  • Studying specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required.
  • Assist in the creation of project plans; materials, quotes, budgets, timelines
  • Effectively integrate technology and sustainable building practices into the apprenticeship learning environment
  • Insure adherence to US Department of Labor Apprenticeship Standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 5 years/10,000 hours on the job experience in Carpentry.
  • A minimum of a Journeyperson's certification from an accredited institution.
  • Master Contractor's license preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Minimum 3 years' experience of jobsite management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in teambuilding and teamwork
  • Strong organizational and customer relations skills
  • Ability to provide supervision and mentorship for apprenticeship participants.
  • Hold a current or be willing to obtain CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge and proficiency with office and contractor computer programs.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be insurable
  • Must be able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen

SUPERVISION:

  • Direct supervision by the Lead Carpentry Instructor

SALARY LEVEL: Annual Salary Range is $46,633-$65,208
