Job description

MANAGER – LABORATORY

Location: LifeBridge Health
Department: Laboratory Services

Position Summary

The Manager – Laboratory is responsible for overseeing clinical laboratory operations including Chemistry, Hematology, Serology, and Urinalysis. This role ensures regulatory compliance, inspection readiness, quality management, and operational excellence while leading staff and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the laboratory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage daily operations for assigned laboratory departments.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance and inspection readiness with CAP, The Joint Commission (TJC), and Maryland regulatory standards.
  • Develop and oversee laboratory improvement plans and departmental objectives.
  • Manage occurrence reporting, investigations, trending, and resolution of laboratory quality issues.
  • Hire, develop, and retain qualified staff while maintaining appropriate staffing levels.
  • Ensure staff training, orientation, and competency in accordance with hospital and departmental policies.
  • Communicate and support organizational and departmental goals to foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Complete performance evaluations and performance management processes in a timely manner.
Qualifications

Required Experience

  • 3–5 years of clinical laboratory supervisor experience

Preferred Education

  • Master’s Degree

Preferred Certification

  • Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MLT) Certification

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of laboratory regulatory and accreditation standards
  • Strong leadership, quality management, and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and team development skills
