Technical Recruiter

Job description

Position Overview

No formal coursework exists for technical recruiting, which means we focus on what really matters: strong interpersonal skills and an understanding of technology. As an Associate Technical Recruiter, you'll learn the ropes of full-cycle recruiting, from sourcing to onboarding, while working alongside seasoned professionals. You'll partner closely with our sales team, giving you a firsthand look at how the business works from both sides.

If you're ready to kick-start your career in a fast-paced environment and grow alongside a supportive team, we'd love to hear from you.

About Montage

Montage is a woman-owned technical staffing and IT solutions firm, founded by leaders in technology, recruiting, and operations. That mix of backgrounds shapes how we work. We understand the roles we're filling, not just the rรฉsumรฉs attached to them.

We place cyber, software, AI, and engineering talent with clients across enterprise, mission-critical infrastructure, and government. It's a wide range to learn on, and it keeps the work interesting.

We're growing quickly, and that shapes the role. Priorities shift as new clients come on board, and not every process is documented yet. If you enjoy variety and like the idea of helping build something as you go, you'll fit in well here.

What You'll Do

Months 1 to 3: Learn the craft

- Partner with senior recruiters and sales reps on live searches and hiring manager calls, and learn by listening

- Get to know our clients' businesses: what they build, how their teams are structured, and what a good hire means to each of them

- Learn to read a technical job requisition and translate it into who you're looking for

- Get comfortable in our ATS and start building your own candidate pipeline

- Make your first outreach calls with a recruiter on the line

Months 4 to 9: Run your own desk

- Source candidates through LinkedIn Recruiter, job boards, referrals, tech meetups, and outreach

- Screen candidates on skills, motivation, compensation expectations, and timeline, and build the judgment to tell a strong fit from a strong rรฉsumรฉ

- Submit qualified candidates and be able to confidently explain candidate selections to the hiring managers

- Participate in hiring manager calls, where you'll hear firsthand what the client is looking for

- Coordinate interviews, prep candidates, gather client feedback, and shepherd the process from interview to offer

- Help guide candidates through the offer stage, from extending an offer to confirming a start date

Months 9 and beyond: Own outcomes

- Carry your own requisitions and placement goals

- Build a network of repeat candidates and referral sources

- Become the recruiter your sales partner wants on the call, with a point of view on market conditions and salary ranges

- Contribute to how we source and how we sell. A fresh perspective often catches what the rest of us have stopped noticing.

What We're Looking For

- Bachelor's degree in any discipline, or equivalent certification or training program experience

- Comfort starting conversations with people you don't know, over the phone as well as in writing

- Professional presence and confidence engaging with people at all levels of an organization

- Organization under pressure. You can keep many things moving at once and re-prioritize when the day changes.

- Self-starter instincts. You manage your own calendar, follow up without reminders, and take initiative.

-Comfort with ambiguity. When there's no set process, you form a plan and act on it.

- Persistence and a positive outlook. Recruiting has its ups and downs, and resilience goes a long way.

- Tech-Savvy: Basic understanding of current technology trends and terminology, with an eagerness to learn more.

Helpful but not required: experiences that built persistence, such as athletics, sales, hospitality, fundraising, campus leadership, military service, or working while in school.

Not required at all: recruiting experience, a technical degree, or familiarity with applicant tracking systems. You'll learn ours quickly.

Compensation and Benefits

- Competitive base salary, so you aren't dependent on commission while you're ramping up

- Uncapped commission and performance bonuses tied to placements, milestones, and team results

- Full benefits package

Why Montage

You'll learn by doing. This is an apprenticeship more than a curriculum. You'll sit with experienced recruiters, listen to how they handle calls, get feedback on your own, and take on real work early.

Room to grow. The relationships you build in year one become your book of business in year three. Associate Recruiters here move into Recruiter, Senior Recruiter, Account Management, or team lead roles, and we promote from within whenever we can.

Work that matters. Every placement affects someone's income, career, and family. We take that seriously and look for people who will too.

One last thing, for those who read this far. When you apply, add a few sentences about a time you figured something out without being told how. It isn't required, but we'll notice.
