Job description

Primary responsibility is to ensure that every guest at Daniel Island Club has a great experience while at our facility. This includes making every customer feel welcome, informing them of course conditions, upcoming events that may be of interest to them, and any other activity that may affect their play. Monitoring player activity on the course is also a very important part of the job, along with helping cart staff, maintenance staff, and pro shop staff as needed. It is required for individuals in this position to interact with management and other members of the staff, to discuss any problems, opportunities, areas of concern – with the goal of improving the overall operation of our course. Benefits will include golfing privileges.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but not limited to, the following:

  • Greet and welcome golfers to Daniel Island Club – record any customer information that may be missing in their player profile.
  • Go over basic rules to inform golfers of any unusual conditions that exist on the course.
  • Communicates with other Outside Service Staff to ensure that all players tee off at their scheduled times.
  • Monitors all play on the golf course, with special attention to of pace of play.
  • Report golf course play situation to the golf shop staff at regular intervals.
  • Check water and ice stations and restock supplies as needed.
  • Pick up garbage as needed.
  • Assist outings by placing and removing closest to the pin markers, longest drive markers, and sponsor signs out on the golf course.
  • Assist with the preparation of carts for outings.
  • Assist with cart cleaning if needed.
  • Assist in fixing ball marks on the course when play is slow.
  • Knowledge of how to handle the flow on the course.
  • Be able to tolerate a variety of weather conditions including but not limited to extreme temperatures, all forms of precipitation, sun, and wind.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Friendly, comfortable speaking with people, excellent communication skills.
  • Good understanding of golf.
  • Ability to be outside, in good and inclement weather for extended periods of time.
  • Good physical health – this job does require some physical activity.
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced work environment.
  • Must be able to operate a standard golf cart.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent
  2. Valid driver’s license
  3. General knowledge of the game of golf
  4. Ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments from a variety of staff and volunteers.
  5. Fantastic customer service ethic and high expectations for quality.
  6. Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills both in person and by phone, with high professionalism.
  7. Strong computer skills; MS Office and Outlook desired
  8. Flexible schedule, including availability to work evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT

  1. Must enthusiastically represent Daniel Island Golf Club displaying a positive attitude, high level of energy and commitment to quality throughout all aspects of the job.
  2. Workplace attire and grooming must be neat, clean and appropriate for the work being performed and the setting in which the work is performed.
  3. Most possess the strength to lift and carry materials weighting up to lbs.
  4. Ability to work in a variety of weather and temperature conditions.
  5. Ability to Lift/Carry 10 pounds or less frequently;
  6. Ability to Lift/Carry 35 pounds or less occasionally;
  7. Ability to Push/Pull 35 pounds or less occasionally
  8. Ability to Twist, turn, reach above shoulder, reach outward, stand, walk, taste or smell, work at or above shoulder occasionally
  9. Ability to Bend, squat, kneel, talk or hear frequently
  10. Ability to work inside and outside
