Solutions Specialist - Outside Sales- Boots on the

Davis Industrial

Jacksonville, FL • On-site

Job description

Davis Industrial is hiring a Solutions Specialist to own our North Florida territory.

This is a boots on the ground position covering the North Florida region focused from Jacksonville to Tallahassee and south to the Palatka and Gainesville areas. Cement plants, Paper Mills, Recycling Centers, quarries, asphalt producers, block and gypsum manufacturers, distribution centers and port terminals. Anywhere material moves on a conveyor belt.

You are who maintenance managers call when a conveyor is costing them money. You will walk their systems, find wear before it becomes a breakdown, and come back with a solution — belt, splice, components, fabrication, or a crew on site. You will not know conveyors on day one; we will teach you that part. You will have inside sales, estimating, fabrication and a 24/7 service group behind you.

Here is why it is a good territory to sell in: our customers cannot afford downtime, and when they call, we show up- 24/7. When you make a promise, the company behind you keeps it. We are not the cheapest and we do not compete that way — you will sell as a problem solver, not a price list.

There is an stablished book of business, real room to grow, and it is yours to run.

What we offer

  • Generous base salary plus uncapped commission on what you sell
  • Company vehicle, fuel card, phone, laptop and company credit card
  • Company-paid medical, plus dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k), PTO and profit sharing
  • Hands-on training in conveyor systems, products and applications
  • Direct access to ownership, and the resources behind you to say yes to your customers

What this job is not

  • It’s not a desk job. You’ll climb conveyors, catwalks and structures over 200 feet, on uneven ground, in Florida heat. Lifting 75+ lbs comes with it.
  • It’s not 8-to-5. Plants run around the clock. When a customer is down, they call you — nights, weekends, holidays. Your family needs to be on board with that, not just you.
  • It’s not a lead-fed role. Nobody hands you appointments. You build the day yourself.
  • It’s not a big-company job. We’re family-run. Leaner benefits than a Fortune 500, cameras in the company trucks, and decisions made fast by people whose cell numbers you’ll have. Some people love that. Some don’t. Better to know now.

Required

  • Three or more years of success in industrial outside sales, business development or account management
  • You have owned a territory or a book of accounts, and can speak to results specifically
  • Strong mechanical aptitude — able to understand industrial equipment and applications
  • Works independently and manages a territory with minimal supervision
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Resides within the assigned territory. Relocation assistance is not provided.
  • Successful completion of background check and drug screen

Preferred

  • Five or more years of industrial outside sales
  • Experience selling conveyor systems, industrial services, maintenance, fabrication or components
  • Experience with mining, aggregate, paper, cement, terminal, manufacturing or power generation customers
  • Existing relationships with maintenance and operations decision makers in Northeast Florida
  • Comfortable working in a CRM and on mobile platforms

Physical demands and working conditions

  • Extensive driving throughout the assigned territory
  • Walking manufacturing plants, quarries, terminals and industrial facilities
  • Climbing stairs, ladders, catwalks, conveyors and elevated work areas
  • Heat, cold, dust, noise and outdoor conditions; required PPE including hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection and steel-toed boots
  • Occasionally lifting and carrying materials up to 75 pounds
  • Availability to respond to customer needs outside normal business hours as conditions require
