GURSTEL LAW FIRM, P.C. – COMMERCIAL ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY

JOB SUMMARY as a Commercial Associate Attorney you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks including, but not limited to:

  • Providing thorough and practical assessments and advice while advocating for clients in and out of court during the legal collection process.
  • Focus on continuous quality work product and performance in the Firm’s energized and fast-paced environment while doing right, maintaining integrity, and achieving results.
  • Prepare and sign pleadings for all phases of litigation.
  • Make court appearances throughout the litigation lifecycle, including first chairing any trials that may arise.
  • Communicate in writing and verbally in an effective and responsive manner with Firm clients, opposing counsel, opposing parties, and court staff.
  • Effectively implement strategies to collect on any judgments obtained on behalf of clients, which may include implementing garnishments, deposition, and repossession strategies.
  • Provide guidance and training to administration level staff.
  • When necessary, conduct legal research required to make successful legal arguments and recommendations to Firm clients.
  • Draft and review legal briefs, correspondence, pleadings, and other legal documents.
  • Document account/file activity in accordance with the Firm and client policies and procedures.
  • Travel to various courts in the State and effectively handle all aspects of a case’s litigation life cycle.
  • Attend continuing education classes, webinars, and seminars to remain current and well-informed of any local, state, or federal changes in the law, rules of court or court procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • 1-7 years of Commercial Litigation experience, preferably in Creditors’ Rights and collections – not required.
  • Requires membership in the State Bar as an attorney qualified to practice law in the State of California
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws.
  • Ability to analyze case law and provide recommendations.
  • J.D. from accredited law school
  • Ability to collaborate with other employees to utilize resources and knowledge of others in identifying high quality solutions.
  • Superior time management skills and ability to effectively manage priorities to meet business requirements and deadlines in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
  • Possesses leadership skills and the ability to drive and motivate other employees to achieve results.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills across a broad spectrum of attorney and non-attorney recipients including all levels within the organization and external.
