Petra Construction Corp., a mid-sized, award-winning Construction Management/General Contracting firm based in North Haven, CT, has an opening for a working Assistant Superintendent for private-sector commercial construction projects in CT. The Assistant Superintendent supports the Superintendent and project team in the daily operations of construction projects. This position is designed for individuals looking to grow their careers in field supervision and construction management. The Assistant Superintendent helps ensure projects are built safely, on schedule, and in accordance with Company standards, plans, and specifications. Depending upon project size and needs, the Assistant Superintendent may be required to self-perform work.
Learn company procedures, construction standards, and leadership skills | Acquire construction sequencing, scheduling, and trade coordination skills | Support subcontractor activities and help track daily progress | Promote and help enforce Company safety policies and OSHA standards | Participate in safety meetings and daily jobsite walks | Assist with basic quality control inspections under the guidance of the Superintendent | Support site logistics such as material staging, deliveries, and housekeeping | Communicate with subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel | Help prepare daily reports, photos, and documentation of jobsite activities.
Requirements
  • A great attitude and a desire to learn!
  • High school graduate/GED required; Course work or degree in Construction Management or related field preferred.
  • 6 months - 2 years' of construction or related field experience (internship or trade experience desired).
  • Must have a strong interest in pursing a career in construction supervision.
  • Valid Driver's License or reliable transportation to get to/from job site.
  • Basic knowledge of construction materials, methods, and tools.
  • Elementary understanding of construction drawings and terminology.
  • Experience with MS Office using a laptop computer or tablet and mobile phone; Procore experience is a plus.
  • OSHA 10 certification

  • Must successfully pass a post-offer pre-employment physical exam, drug test, and background check.
