Job Description
The Sr. Manager, Events will support the strategy and execution of premium, high-impact events at STARZ under the Publicity umbrella. This role will oversee and produce events that drive buzz and awareness for our programming and create events that support Publicity, Awards and Corporate. This role will also work closely with Marketing, Programming, Social Media, Corporate Communications, Distribution, Legal and other internal departments on events.
This candidate must bring a high level of creativity and passion for producing high-profile, buzzworthy, premium events. The ideal candidate will have 6+ years executing events in the entertainment industry or similar fast-paced environment. Travel is a requirement for this role. This position reports to the Vice President of Events.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manages all aspects of Events in the following areas:
    • Original Series Premieres, Red Carpets and Tastemaker Events
    • Festivals and Conventions such as Comic Con, SXSW, Essence Festival, ATX, TFF
    • Executive/Talent Dinners and Cocktail Events
    • Press Junkets
    • Awards Events, Screenings and Panels
    • Corporate Communications and Distribution Team Events
    • Set Visits
  • Works directly with the VP, Events and other members of the Events and Publicity teams to understand and support the overall business objectives of the department
  • Budgets, plans and executes a wide range of events to maximize STARZ Originals programming initiatives and reinforce the STARZ brand strategy
  • Handle all talent gifting for STARZ working in close partnership with publicity. Oversee external vendor to coordinate gifting that maintains positive talent relations for the network - including but not limited to gifting for birthdays, celebrations and production wrap gifts. Maintain talent gifting lists and handle deliveries/ordering of gifting.
  • Contributes to the overall strategy and execution of Awards events, while spearheading communication with the Academy, Guilds, NAACP and other awards organizations, as it pertains to FYC related events.
  • Manages teams (internal or external)
  • Provides support on large-scale events related to Originals Marketing, including consumer facing events when necessary
  • Ensures a seamless flow of event communication to all parties involved, including internal stakeholders and external vendors, event producers and agencies.
  • Organizes and keeps event documents up to date including run-of-show, executive memos status reports, team & event calendars, production timelines, checklists
  • Develops relationships with and manages current vendors hired by STARZ, while exploring opportunities with new vendors
  • Manages event budgets
  • Negotiates venue, hotel and other contracts
  • Secures third party sponsorships and partnerships when necessary
  • Is well informed on event industry trends, new venues, and organizations
  • Represents STARZ and acts as the host at events
  • Candidate is a fast mover who can pivot quickly and thrives in a dynamic, creative environment.

Qualifications:
  • 6+ years event planning and PR related experience, preferably within the entertainment industry
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience in negotiations. Ability to communication clearly in email or marketing decks and has excellent presentation skills and presence virtually and in-person as this role represents the brand.
  • Ability to multi-task and work on several projects simultaneously
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Exercises excellent judgement
  • Ability to collaborate with others and take direction while also being able to work well independently. Provides a strong point of view.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Communications or similar fields

$105,000 - $115,000
