Job Description Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Fabrication Designer 2 to support our prefabrication team. In this role, you'll work closely with Manufacturing Designers to help prepare models, documentation, and create prefabrication parts using tools like Inventor. Your focus will be on assisting with design tasks that contribute to more efficient workflows and successful installations in the manufacturing facility.
This is a great opportunity for someone looking to gain experience in both electrical construction and manufacturing. You'll learn how real-world construction needs are translated into buildable designs, while supporting collaboration between the shop, field, and VDC teams.
Job Description:
Role & Responsibilities
  • Design and Modeling:
    • Create custom components, assemblies, and prefabrication for electrical systems
    • Optimize designs for manufacturability and on-site installation efficiency.
    • Understanding blueprints of structural framing and electrical systems.
  • Collaboration with Field Teams:
    • Work directly with project managers, electricians, and installers to gather the best option of designs on a project.
    • Iterate on designs to ensure components are easy to install, maintain, and align with safety standards.
    • Support the development of documentation and installation.
  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for product innovation and improvement, focusing on ease of installation and labor efficiency.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to test new concepts.
    • Implement design standards to align with industry best practices and company goals.
  • Technical Coordination and Documentation:
    • Prepare bill of materials (BOMs) and assembly instructions for manufacturing teams.
    • Maintain accurate records of design revisions and project updates.
    • Ensure designs meet compliance with NEC (National Electrical Code) and relevant industry standards.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Two (2) year degree in electrical construction, electrical design for construction or similar preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Welding knowledge and basic comprehension of metallurgy (preferred).
  • 2-5 years of experience in manufacturing, product development, or VDC prefabrication environments
  • Basic knowledge of electrical design
  • Proven experience working in a fast-paced, multi-project environment with field and fabrication exposure.

Key Skills and Competencies
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or Inventor; knowledge of Autodesk Revit a plus
  • Understanding of prefabrication preferred; electrical systems, installation methods, NEC codes, and practices is a plus.
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence and align cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a practical, hands-on approach to challenges.
  • Strong organizational skills with a high attention to detail, accuracy, and quality.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; able to convey complex ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Pay Range:
$76,800.00 - $102,400.00
