Job Description:
Clinical Care
Diagnose and treat gastrointestinal diseases, including GERD, IBS, IBD, ulcers, liver disorders, pancreatic diseases, and GI cancers.
Perform and interpret GI procedures such as:
Upper endoscopy (EGD)
Colonoscopy
Sigmoidoscopy
ERCP (if applicable)
Capsule endoscopy
Provide both outpatient and inpatient consultations.
Develop personalized treatment plans aligned with evidence-based practices.
Manage chronic GI conditions and follow up with patients regularly.
Procedural & Technical Skills
Conduct diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures safely and accurately.
Identify abnormalities, perform biopsies, polypectomies, dilations, haemostasis, and foreign-body removal.
Ensure compliance with sedation, safety, and infection-control protocols.
Collaboration & Documentation
Collaborate with surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, primary care physicians, and nursing teams.
Maintain accurate and timely medical records in accordance with hospital/clinic standards.
Participate in case reviews, quality improvement sessions, and care coordination meetings.
Patient Education & Communication
Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, procedures, and preventive care.
Demonstrate strong communication and empathy when addressing patient questions and concerns.
Additional Responsibilities
Participate in on-call rotations as required.
Maintain CME credits and remain current with advancements in gastroenterology.
Support clinic/hospital policies and assist with developing gastroenterology service lines as needed.
Qualifications
MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
Completion of Internal Medicine residency and Gastroenterology fellowship.
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology.
Valid and unrestricted state medical license (or ability to obtain).
Proficiency in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures.
Preferred Skills
Experience with advanced endoscopy (ERCP, EUS) is a plus.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Commitment to high-quality, compassionate patient care.
