The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit (MCIU) is hiring Substitute Teachers and Substitute Teacher Assistants for the 2026-2027 school year! Substitute opportunities are available in our Early Childhood and School-Age Special Education classrooms throughout Montgomery County, PA.
Due to the unique needs of our classrooms, individuals who are not certified in Special Education will initially be placed in Substitute Teacher Assistant assignments. This initial placement allows us to assess classroom needs and ensure the best fit before assigning Substitute Teacher roles. We appreciate your flexibility and commitment to our students!
Qualifications:
  • Substitute Teacher: Bachelor's Degree required; Valid PA certification in Special Education PK-12 preferred
  • Substitute Teacher Assistant: HS Diploma required; experience working with children preferred

Daily Rate:
  • Substitute Teachers: $160/day (1 to 20 days); $210/day (over 20 days)
    • **MCIU Retiree Certified Substitute Teachers will receive $20 additional per day
  • Substitute Teacher Assistants: $135/day
