Job Summary
Participating in the care and maintenance of the College grounds maintenance program. Clean and assist in servicing vehicles and equipment as needed; prepares vehicle and tools for work assignments daily. Daily maintenance and cleaning of work areas. Watering and pruning of trees and shrubs. Mowing, edging, and trimming of turf and outlying areas. Irrigation repair as needed. Planting and ongoing care of trees, shrubs and flowers. Small construction projects to upgrade areas around campus. Snow removal as needed.
Compensation: $13.99/hr.

Starting Date: As soon as practical after the hiring process.
Principal Responsibilities and Results, KSA's
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - this position is non-exempt and is eligible for compensatory or overtime pay provisions of the FLSA. This listing of essential duties is not all-inclusive, but representative, other duties may be assigned).
  • Maintain campus grounds by performing landscaping, monitoring outdoor facilities, and ensuring the upkeep of green spaces to provide a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Operate hand shovel, broom, weed eater and other various grounds equipment.
  • Keep grounds clean and free of hazards, trash, and tumbleweed abatement.
  • Facilitate effective communication by providing clear, timely information through various channels and ensuring consistent messaging with supervisor and co-workers.
Other tasks may be assigned based on contemporary institutional needs.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • While performing the essential functions of this position a variable work schedule may be required
  • There may be occurrences of interacting with employees and/or students, past employees and/or students, members of the general public, and others who express opinions, may exhibit strong emotions, which will require the employee to interact professionally, diplomatically, and appropriately in such situations
  • While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to move around the assigned work areas as well as within hallways, meeting rooms, and other parts of the campus facilities
  • There may be multiple/daily instances of prolonged sitting, standing, and personal computer use, which would include keyboard and/or mouse usage as well as viewing a computer monitor
  • An employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more to perform essential position functions
  • For lifts exceeding 50 pounds, an assisted lift technique will be required
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus
  • The overall work environment requires the mental ability to shift focal point quickly due to interruptions; an employee must be able to mentally track multiple projects and tasking as well
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, there may be instances of somewhat loud environments when working with certain tools and outside environments.
  • The work environment is mainly outdoors, occasionally working in confined spaces.
  • There may be a risk of being exposed to hazardous chemicals.
  • An employee must be able to transition between stationary tasks and activities to frequent movement activities quickly and as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Related experience such as grounds work including snow removal, equipment operation, maintenance and repair or related outdoor work
