Job description

Job Title: Collections Specialist
Industry: Finance & Accounting
Location (City, State): Alpharetta, GA
Compensation: $20 - $25 per hour
Benefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) benefits
Work Schedule: Full-time, business hours
DAILY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but not limited to):
โ€ข Make collection calls to customers to collect on past due accounts.
โ€ข Troubleshoot billing discrepancies.
โ€ข Proactively communicate with customers to ensure timely payment.
โ€ข Correspond by emails, phone calls and letters with internal and external customers to resolve errors in accounts, investigate complaints, verify accuracy of charges, and collect past due balances.
โ€ข Resolve data discrepancies when customer remittance information does not match what is expected.
โ€ข Research unapplied cash to identify invoices for which payment was intended or refund, to be determined on a case by case basis.
โ€ข Research short pays, working with both the external customer and internally with the customer representative.
โ€ข Issue and mail customer statements, as requested.
โ€ข Escalate collection matters to management that are unable to be resolved.
โ€ข Support annual and ad-hoc audit requests, as needed.
โ€ข Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS, CHARACTERISTICS, & EXPERIENCE:

โ€ข Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
โ€ข Ability to identify and solve problems, perform under pressure, and meet deadlines

โ€ข Strong reconciliation skills.
โ€ข Work with little or no supervision, and work well in a team setting
โ€ข Excellent communication skills, time management skills, and strong attention to detail
โ€ข High school degree or equivalent required
โ€ข Previous collections experience required
โ€ข Accounting degree or experience preferred
