Job description

What's the Short Version?

The Manager, Credit leads SanMar's credit and collections function, overseeing accounts receivable and credit analyst teams to support sales growth while managing credit risk. This role provides clear direction, coaching, and tools to ensure effective operations and achievement of business objectives.
This role partners closely with Sales and customers to strengthen relationships, resolve issues, and support profitable growth while maintaining sound credit and risk management practices. They proactively identify business challenges and improvement opportunities and collaborate with Credit Leadership and cross-functional leaders to implement solutions and initiatives. The Manager, Credit fosters a culture of engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement, supporting employee development and serving as a mentor to supervisors to strengthen leadership capability across the department.

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Lead the credit analysts and accounts receivable teams by providing clear direction, support, and accountability, driving strong performance management, communication, employee engagement, and teamwork.
  • Ensure consistent execution of credit policies, standards, and metrics are consistently executed across collections, analyst, and supervisory teams, driving disciplined DSO performance, effective bad debt management, and operational efficiency in support of SanMar's growth.
  • Hire, mentor, performance manage, and develop supervisors, strengthening leadership capability, engagement, and succession readiness across the Credit team.
  • Actively participate in customer credit reviews, including financial and credit analysis, engaging directly with customers while supporting and advising Analysts and AR team members.
  • Lead collection strategy and execution, coaching teams on effective negotiation techniques, risk assessment, and issue resolution to protect credit exposure while strengthening customer relationships and revenue opportunities.
  • Deliver a high level of service to internal and external customers by modeling responsiveness, consistency, and professionalism aligned with SanMar's guiding principles and family values.
  • Partner with Department Managers to align performance standards, metrics, procedures, and improvement initiatives across functional areas.
  • Identify opportunities to improve team performance, efficiency, and consistency, resolving issues and implementing goals and initiatives in partnership with Credit Department Leadership and the Credit Director.
  • Champion continuous improvement by introducing innovative ideas and supporting planning efforts that drive functional and departmental effectiveness.
  • Attend and participate in industry credit groups, monitor competitor and industry trends, and stay current on best practices within the credit field. Potential for quarterly travel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.

What Are We Looking For?

  • Bachelor's Degree degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 4-6 years of progressive experience in credit, accounts receivable, collections, or credit risk management
  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated experience working with mid to large customer portfolios and complex credit decisions.
  • Strong knowledge of credit analysis, including review of financial statements, credit reports, and risk indicators
  • Experience establishing and enforcing credit policies, payment terms, and credit limits
  • Experience developing and leading collection strategies while maintaining positive customer relationships
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast paced environment
  • Strong negotiation skills, balancing firmness with relationship building
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Salesforce, Dynamics 365 and related software applications

What's Our Offer?

Salary Range: You`ll earn between $90,000 - $125,000 (WA, NJ); $82,350 - $114,375 (MN, NV, TX, VA); $79,200 - $110,000 (AZ, ID, FL MT, OH) annually, depending on experience.

Bonus: You`ll be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus up to 15% of base salary.

Paid Time Off: You`ll accrue paid time off on a bi-weekly basis based on hours worked up to 152 hours per year to start. Employees also receive 8 paid holidays and 1 paid family day off.

What Should You Expect?

Hybrid: SanMar's Eastpointe office is located in Issaquah, WA in the Seattle metropolitan area. Employees are required to work in our offices Tuesday through Thursday each week and additional days may be added based on business needs. Our standard working hours are 8:00-5:00 PST. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Work environment is moderately quiet. Ability to work on computer for multiple hours with frequent interruptions. Quarterly travel may be required.
