Job description

Job Title: Legal Assistant

Location: Woodbridge, NJ

Pay Rate: $20 - $24 an hour

A highly reputable organization is seeking a Legal Assistant to join their team! This role consists of various duties and responsibilities including but not limited to managing delinquency reports, collaborating closely with our legal department, and supporting our attorneys with various tasks related to tenant communications and legal documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Run delinquency reports through the program and follow up with past due tenants.
  • Work through timelines to assess if cases are ready to go to court.
  • Update company software for generating legal notices sent to lawyers.
  • Educate tenants on late fees and issue appropriate notices.
  • Interact daily with the Legal department for requests related to contracts, notices, and tenant files.
  • Communicate over the phone with New Jersey counties court systems.
  • Prepare written notices and correspondences for attorneys.
  • Review invoices from outside counsel and distribute them to accounting.
  • Attend virtual court sessions as a witness if needed.
  • Communicate daily with attorneys.
  • Send out template notices to tenants.
  • Redline and edit documents as required.
  • Handle outbound collections calls to tenants.
  • Update tenant account balances.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in administrative support or legal assistant roles.
  • Proficiency in legal administration and administrative support.
  • Experience with banking and payment processing.
  • Strong skills in Excel and legal documentation.
  • Experience in customer service and handling incoming calls.
  • Capability in outbound collections and reviewing contracts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
