Job description

Position: Assessment Collection Assistant
Department: Water & Sewer
Division: Water Customer Accounts
Rate of Pay: $15.00/hr.
Nature of Work:
This is a customer service position that requires prompt and courteous service to all Hattiesburg residents in a busy and professional office environment. Office work is clerical in nature and involves the use of standard office equipment. The person in this position will assist our customers in all aspects related to billing issues, including billing preparations, maintaining current and correct records and reports, accurate data entry, filing and processing service requests.
Examples of Work:
โ€ข Work involves considerable contact with the public
โ€ข Receiving customer payments and issuing receipts
โ€ข Accurately maintaining and balancing a cash drawer
โ€ข Assisting customers over the counter or the telephone
โ€ข Preparing and filing respective reports
โ€ข Assists in the various billing processes
โ€ข Correctly enters customer information into our computer system
โ€ข Maintains calm professionalism at all times with co-workers and customers
โ€ข Performing other duties as directed/instructed.
Qualifications:
โ€ข Self-starter with positive attitude
โ€ข Good communication skills, both verbal & written, with the proper use of the English language
โ€ข Basic skills in arithmetic
โ€ข Ability to organize and prioritize accordingly and follow instructions/directions
โ€ข Maintain courteous and professional customer relations at all times
โ€ข High School diploma or G.E.D.
โ€ข Some computer experience in spreadsheet and word processing
โ€ข Related job experience
