Kennebunkport Resort Collection is seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to oversee the operations of The Boathouse Hotel & Restaurant, Kennebunkport Inn, Yachtsman Hotel & Marina Club, Grand Hotel, and The Lodge on the Cove.

The General Manager will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight, ensuring each property delivers exceptional guest experiences while preserving its individual character and maintaining consistent standards across the portfolio. This role is responsible for building and developing high-performing leadership teams, driving financial and operational success, and fostering a culture of service excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Leading and supporting all departments within the resort to ensure all policies and procedures and standards are being met.
  • Interacting positively with guests promoting the features and amenities of the resort
  • Monitoring all aspects of the hotel operation and rectifying any deficiencies with respective personnel.
  • Maintaining profitability of each department
  • Prepare annual capital, cash flow and sales and marketing plans to accurately forecast budgets and achieve required operating results.
  • Analyze financials to drive revenues, future profitability and maximum return on investment. Use distribution channels and technology platforms to drive revenue and maximize market share.
  • Lead capital plans and asset management initiatives, including working with ownership to maintain or improve property’s market leadership position.
  • Evaluating cost effectiveness of all aspects of the operation
  • Developing cost savings and profit enhancing measures across the resort
  • Providing support to the executive committee and leadership group
  • Manage the overall seasonal demand strategy in partnership with the hotel’s revenue team.
  • Drive improvement in guest satisfaction goals.
  • Establish and implement appropriate service recovery guidelines and services and programs to ensure complete guest satisfaction and exceed guest expectations.
  • Respond to guest complaints or concerns in a prompt and professional manner.
  • Ensure the effective operation of the hotel through the direct supervision of the operations leadership team.
  • Manage the appearance, condition, and preventive maintenance of the physical hotel through the direct supervision of the Director of Engineering.
  • Develop, implement and monitor employee succession planning to ensure future bench strength.
  • Establish performance and development goals for employees and provide mentoring, coaching and regular feedback.
  • Enforce hotel standards, policies, and procedures are in place within the hotel departments.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws.
  • Attend departmental and/or corporate meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Demonstrate a team-focused attitude and encourage collaboration.
  • Understand and use safe work practices for all safety precautions including Emergency Evacuation Procedures, Violence in the Workplace, Accident Reporting, OSHA Compliance, and Bloodborne Pathogen Procedures.
  • Attend meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Comply with all policies as outlined in the Handbook, Property Supplement, or otherwise issued including time and attendance expectations, uniform and dress code standards, anti-harassment policy, and substances in the workplace.

KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • 8-10 years management experience, hotel/lodging environment highly preferred
  • Four-year degree in related field preferred
  • Strong understanding of lodging operations;reservations, appropriate guest service etiquette, etc.
  • Independent and branded hotel experience (limited and full service) preferred.
  • Strong prior experience in sales and marketing and food and beverage is preferred.
  • Successful completion of satisfactory background check
  • Demonstrates natural leadership qualities with a positive, team-focused attitude
  • Available and willing to work flexible hours based on business needs including weekdays and weekends.
  • Demonstrates strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • The candidate must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and good computer and budget analysis skills.
  • Expresses sincere enthusiasm for the role and passion for the role.
  • Must know how to prioritize, delegate, and respond in a timely fashion. Able to work under pressure, multi-task, and stay focused while maintaining hospitality.
