Job description

Job Summary:

Responsible for the fabrication of steel parts to produce finished products.

Job Responsibilities:

Interpreting project plans, drawings, and other written instructions and diagrams to perform the task at hand.

Maintain and safely operate tools and equipment as assigned, including but not limited to a tape measure, caliper, shear, CNC burning table, band saw, ironworker, track burner, forklift, overhead crane, and personal protective equipment.

All employees are accountable for safety and health and are empowered to stop work if an unsafe condition is present. Employees should immediately notify their supervisor so that the hazard may be corrected.

Work with shop foreman to ensure production goals are met.

Comply with all company policies and procedures.

Tool/Machine/Technology Requirements:

Fork operation

Hoist operation using a magnet, clamps, crane operation

Must be able to use a tape measure and basic hand tools

Use of caliper, micrometer, square, and protractor for part inspection

Job Requirements:

  • Basic computer and good math skills
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Must be able to bend, twist, and squat repetitively throughout the workday
  • Must be able to speak, write, read, and understand English
  • See and hear within reasonably acceptable limits, this includes the ability to see at a distance and peripherally
  • Use time management skills and prioritization to accomplish the day's tasks in the hours provided
  • Must be self-motivated as much of the day is unsupervised
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Any other duties assigned by management.
  • Attend all meetings as required by management.

PPE Requirements:

Safety Glasses and Steel-Toed Shoes

Face Shield, Hearing Protection, and Face Shield (when deburring or grinding)

Non-Material Handling Demands

Employee is expected to work 40 hours a week. However, hours including overtime and weekends may be required based Steelcon Inc needs.

Hear sufficiently to be aware of safety issues.

Visual ability to read and interpret cut lists and shop drawings. Safety glasses are required in the shop area.

Exposure to heat, cold, wet, and humid conditions in the shop area OCCASIONALLY.

Exposure to fumes, odors, and dust in the shop area OCCASIONALLY.

Exposure to solvents, greases, oils, and coolants OCCASIONALLY.

Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment. PPE includes steel-toe safety shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses, gloves, and hard hats.
