What are Cold Fronts in meteorology?

A cold front is a boundary separating two air masses, where a cooler, denser air mass displaces a warmer, lighter one. This transition often leads to dramatic changes in weather, including a drop in temperature, shifts in wind direction, and the development of clouds and precipitation. Cold fronts usually move from northwest to southeast and are associated with strong winds, short bursts of rain, thunderstorms, or even snow, depending on the season. After a cold front passes, the weather typically clears and temperatures drop.
