About The Role
As a Consulting Principal – Life Sciences Commercial Analytics, you will make an impact by serving as a subject matter expert and consulting leader for analytics-driven commercial transformation initiatives across pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients. You will be a valued member of the Life Sciences Commercial Analytics team and work collaboratively with managers, primary teams, and other stakeholders and clients.
In This Role, You Will

  • Lead analytics-led consulting engagements, shaping insight strategies and operating models, and advising senior commercial stakeholders.
  • Act as a Commercial Analytics SME for life sciences clients across sales, marketing, and omnichannel engagement.
  • Enable data-driven decision making across brand strategy, field force deployment, channel mix optimization, and promotional effectiveness.
  • Lead the design of analytics solutions and frameworks covering descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics.
  • Own end-to-end consulting delivery for commercial analytics engagements, from problem framing to value realization.
  • Identify and shape consulting opportunities across commercial analytics, insights, and decision science.
  • Develop analytics frameworks, accelerators, and reusable assets for life sciences commercial engagements.
  • Mentor consultants and managers on commercial analytics, insight generation, and consulting best practices.
Work model

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a position requires 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in San Francisco, CA. Regardless of your working arrangement, we are here to support a healthy work-life balance though our various wellbeing programs.
What You Must Have To Be Considered
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Data Science, or Management.
  • 14–18 years of experience in Life Sciences commercial analytics, consulting, or advanced analytics roles.
  • Strong experience translating analytics into commercial strategy and execution decisions.
  • Proven ability to lead complex analytics-driven consulting engagements and senior client relationships.
Nice-to-haves
  • MBA or advanced degree.
  • Commercial analytics and performance management.
  • Customer segmentation, targeting, and personalization.
  • Promotional effectiveness and marketing mix analytics.
  • Field force effectiveness and sales analytics.
  • Omnichannel measurement frameworks.

Compensation
  • $165,000-$194,000
  • This position is eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
