Job description

Steelhead Coffee in Long Beach, CA is accepting applications for the role of Shop Supervisor. We currently have 3 locations around Long Beach and we've got plans to grow in 2026 and beyond. If you're interested in becoming a leader on our team, we'd love to receive your application! Our ideal candidate for this role is someone proactive, self-driven, punctual, and engaged.



Some responsibilities of the Shop Supervisor role include:

  • Manage all areas of the bar including inventory levels, cleanliness, and safety for staff and guests
  • Ensure compliance with state and local food handling and safety policies
  • Assist with the training and ongoing development of Steelhead team members
  • Address and resolve customer complaints in a friendly manner
  • Participate actively in management meetings
  • Take responsibility for the success of the team and the shop
  • Lead by example
  • Ensure every guest's experience is exceptional and reflect the high standards that Steelhead Coffee represents



Qualifications for this position include:

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of equipment used in cafes
  • Knowledge of specialty coffee such as origins, process methods, brewing methods, tasting methods, current trends, roasters, etc.
  • Prior cafe experience is a plus
  • 1+ years of leadership/management experience is a requirement



Requirements of this role include the following:

  • Weekend availability
  • Consistent ability to work 30+ hours and 5 days a week including weekends and holidays, and staying beyond scheduled shifts if necessary to support operational needs
  • Flexibility to help cover shifts in emergency situations
  • Reliable transportation
  • A valid CA Food Handler Certificate or Food Safety Manager Certificate at time of hire, or within 2 weeks of hire
  • Ability to train, motivate, and hold team members accountable
  • Passion for coffee, hospitality, guest experience, and community building
